QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2007
NORTH-SOUTH SHOOTOUT
TM

In 2007, the North-South Shootout™ will celebrate its fifth anniversary. The annual Modified racing spectacular has grown over the years, gaining national attention along with way. The inaugural event immediately jumped to the forefront of short track racing and has gained momentum ever since. On November 2&3, 2007, the North-South Shootout™ will again feature a 100-lap green flag main event for the mighty Modifieds while the support divisions will include the SK-Type and Limited SK Modified divisions. The excitement should hit an all-time high when the North-South Shootout™ is paired with the East-West Supermodified Shootout-a 50-lapper for the winged warriors.
As the tradition of the North-South Shootout™ continues so does the scheduling of qualifying races. Since its inception, C&C Racing Promotions, in cooperation with top race promoters on the east coast, has hosted a number of qualifying events. The winning car owner of each designated qualifying race is awarded a guaranteed starting spot in their respective divisions.
In addition to the guaranteed starting spots for their owners, each of the drivers will receive a $250 coupon from the Joie of Seating and a custom-made clock (or other custom items) courtesy of C&C Racing Promotions, proud promoters of the North-South Shootout ™.
In 2007, guaranteed starting spots will be awarded in the three top divisions in competition at the North-South Shootout™ . A total of nine (9) spots will be made available through qualifiers for the headlining Modifieds, including five (5) for the Northern Modified competitors and four (4) for their southern counterparts. Five events are slated for the SK-Type Modifieds and seven (7) for the Supermodifieds.
A pair of Modified qualifiers was held earlier this year with two former North-South Shootout™ competitors earning starting spots. On May 12, 2007, owner/driver Rob Summers of Vernon, CT, won the 100-lap Modified open to kick-off the new era of the All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH . Brian King of Gibsonville, NC , the highest finishing Southern competitor in the 2006 installment of the North-South Shootout™, earned his car owner, R.D. Adams a spot in the 2007 event. The duo of King and Adams hopes to dethrone the northern competitors in November to become the first-ever southern winner.
The Whelen Modified Tour competitors will get ample opportunity to win starting spots for the North-South Shootout™. The Northern tour will find back-to-back qualifying races during the month of August. Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT, will host the first of two on August 10, 2007 followed by the Thursday Night Thunder presentation at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, CT, on August 16. The Whelen Southern Modified Tour will get their opportunity on July 6, 2007 when Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC, hosts an event.
Other Southern Modified qualifiers include the ASA Southern Modified Race Tour at Friendship Speedway on July 8, 2007 and a much-heralded NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race at the historic and wildly popular Bowman Gray Stadium on August 18, 2007 .
The Northern qualifying races will wrap up on August 25, 2007 when the ever-expanding True Value Modified Racing Series visits the Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH. A yet to be determined Race of Champions event will also carry a guaranteed starting spot for the winning car owner. C&C Racing Promotions is working with the Race of Champions Modified Tour to schedule an event for their competitors. More details on the RoC qualifying event will be announced as soon as they become available.
The Whelen All-American Series (WAAS) will take center stage when the SK-Type modified competitors vie for their guaranteed starting spots in the annual North-South Shootout™. The five race schedule kicks off on July 20, 2007 when the Stafford Motor Speedway presents the coveted SK Modified 100. August also will be a busy month for the SK-Type Modified competitors with qualifying events scheduled throughout.
On August 4, 2007 the North-South Shootout™ will enjoy the distinction of being part of the “Racing for a Reason – Evernham Charity Race Event” at the Wall Township Speedway in Wall Township , NJ . August 11, 2007 is a double-header with the winners of the WAAS SK Modified feature event at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT, and the Super Short Track (SST) Series Tour winner at the Chemung Speedrome each earning their place in the Shootout line-up in November. The SST Tour will roll into the historic Chemung Speedrome for a 75-lap main event. The fifth and final qualifier for the SK-Type Modifieds will come from the WAAS Sunoco Modified division at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, CT, on August 30, 2007 for the running of the Independent Truck Service 50.
In preparation for the 5th Annual North-South Shootout™, C&C Racing Promotions will host 6 qualifying races for the East West Supermodified Shootout. The winning car owners at two (2) International Supermodified Association (ISMA) races, two (2) Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) races, and two (2) Western States Supermodified Racing League (WSSRL) races will receive guaranteed starting spots for their teams.
The two ISMA qualifying races are scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT, and Saturday, September 9, 2007 for the ISMA Classic at All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH. The Midwest Supermodified Association races are scheduled for August 25, 2007 (event was originally scheduled for June 2, 2007 but was postponed due to rain) at Sandusky Speedway in Sandusky, OH and August 3, 2007 at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, OH . Negotiations are still underway with the WSSRL to determine the dates of the sanctioning bodies qualifying race dates. A race at the Oswego Speedway is expected to be added in the coming weeks.
The hundreds of laps of racing excitement racked up during the qualifying races culminates in November at Concord Motorsports Park when the winners lock up with some of the finest open-wheel drivers in short track racing. The fifth annual North-South Shootout™ is schedule for Friday and Saturday, November 2&3, 2007 at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, NC. The half-mile tri-oval speedway makes for ultra-fast racing for all the open-wheel divisions at the Shootout.
Since its inception, the 100-lap North-South Shootout™ has featured some of the best racers to take to the racetrack, North or South of the Mason Dixon line. This year, it will also feature the best Super drivers from East and West of the Mississippi. The event, a throwback of sorts, is guaranteed to provide the very best that open-wheel racing has to offer.
