WALL TOWNSHIP SPEEDWAY
GEARS UP FOR
TURKEY DERBY XXXIV FALL CLASSIC
Since 1974, fans of Northeast Asphalt Racing have had an added treat for
their Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Turkey Derby at Wall Township
Speedway in Wall, NJ. This year promises to be one of the best ever,
with overwhelming fan interest and teams from all over the east coast
planning on racing for the coveted title of Turkey Derby XXXIV Champion.
Wall will provide 8 divisions of racing excitement over 2 days on Friday
and Saturday, November 23rd and 24th. The always popular Open Tour Type
Modifieds will return to headline the event this year, along with the
Wall/SK/B/SST Modifieds, Sportsman, RMP Modified Affordable Division,
Street Stocks, INEX Legends, Value Towing Factory Stocks, and the Keenan
Motors American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association. The Garden
State Vintage Stock Car Club will also be displaying their vintage
modifieds in the grandstand area and put on an exhibition race during
intermission Friday.
Friday the 23rd will kick things off with 2 rounds of
practice
for all divisions starting at 8am. Qualifying will start at 12:30 pm
with Time trials for the Wall/SK/B/SST Modifieds, followed by heats and
consis for the Legends, TQ's, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Value Towing
Factory Stocks, and RMP Modified Affordable Division. Features will then
follow at 2:30 pm for the Sportsman (25 laps Friday only), TQ's (20 laps
Friday only), RMP Modified Affordable Division (25 laps Friday only),
INEX Legends (25 laps), Street Stocks (25 laps), and Value Towing
Factory Stocks (20 laps) to complete the first days events.
Saturday, November 24th will start off at 8am with practice
for the Value Towing Factory Stock, Street Stock, INEX Legends,
Wall/SK/B/SST Modifieds, and Open Tour Type Modifieds until 10am. The
Open Tour Type modifieds will take to the track at 10:15 for their Time
Trial qualifying session, followed by B-Mains for the Wall/SK/B/SST
Modifieds and Open Tour Type Modifieds.
From 11:15am to 12:15pm all fans will be invited onto the
racetrack for the first Turkey Derby Trackside Party with all the race
cars and drivers competing parked on the frontstretch and infield area.
This is a great chance to meet your favorite drivers and get to see the
cars up close, get an autograph, and meet with the teams and other fans.
12:45 will be the start of the pre-race ceremonies, with features
highlighted by twin 100's for Open Tour Type and Wall/SK/B/SST Modifieds
starting at approximately 1:00pm. INEX Legends (25 laps, Open Tour Type
Modifieds (100 laps), Street Stock (25 laps), Wall/SK/B/SST Modifieds
(100 laps), and the Value Towing Factory Stocks (25 laps) rounding out
the racing action. Closing ceremonies will follow after the final
feature.
Teams will be allowed to start parking in the pit area
Wednesday night November 21st at 6PM, so they can enjoy their
Thanksgiving holiday and not have to rush to the track Friday Morning.
The Wall Township Speedway NASCAR award winning concession
stands will be open early both Friday and Saturday morning selling fine
breakfast sandwiches and hot coffee for all the teams in the pit area
and fans in the stands.
Sadly, as all traditions change over time, this year
will
mark the end of an era. The final appearance of the Blewett Motorsports
family owned, Red, White and Blue #76 Modified. Jimmy Blewett will race
the car number for the final time in the Wall and Open Mods, and then
the car will be placed in the Blewett Automotive Museum. The number 76
will be retired by Wall Speedway. The Blewett 76 has been a mainstay in
Modified racing the last 4 decades.
Turkey Derby XXXIV will provide something for all fans of
Asphalt Racing. We hope you can all join us Thanksgiving weekend and
share in this historic event. Don't be left out, Ya Gotta Be There!
