George Brunnhoelzl III Brings Home a Top-10 at Caraway
Young Driver Focused On Next Challenge at Nashville

George Brunnhoelzl III is back where he belongs in the Modified world, up front. In the season-opening event for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, Brunnhoelzl started the season off on the right note with a ninth-place finish at Caraway Speedway (NC).
“A top-10 is not bad, especially since it was such an eventful day,” said Brunnhoelzl. “We struggled a little bit in the practice, and we got the car set up pretty good. We qualified 10th, and I was pretty happy with that. At the start of the race we jumped up to fourth for awhile, and we just rode around there.”

After staying in the top five for a while, bad luck found its way to the Brunnhoelzl team towards the end of the 150-lap feature.
“The car just started getting really loose around lap 50. We rode around like that for awhile, and we then came down pit road around lap 90. Then we discovered that we had a left-rear flat and that is why we were so loose.
“We had to restart from the back, and we couldn’t really get up much closer than ninth. There were a lot of cautions toward the end of the race. Not too much green-flag running, so we will take a ninth for the first race. It’s not how we wanted to start off a championship run, but the car is in one piece and we will move on from there.”
Luckily for Brunnhoelzl, his next chance for victory is just around the corner. He and the #2 Modified team will head to Music City Motorplex in Nashville where he will compete in the first-ever NASCAR Whelen Southern Mod Tour event at that track.
“I have been to Nashville once before in a Pro Cup car. It is a cool track. It will be a lot of fun for the Modifieds. It will be a really fast track for the Modifieds. I’m looking forward to it. It kind of evens everyone out being that I am just getting back into the swing of things with the Modified deal, and nobody has run a Modified there so it kind of helps me a little bit.
“I look forward to going there; it’s fun, fast, and I just hope to come out of there with a good finish.”
The NASCAR Southern Modified Tour event at Music City Motorplex will get underway this Sunday, April 1st.
