TIM BROWN WINS POLE FOR SATURDAY NIGHT’S

ADVANCE AUTO PARTS 199 AT BOWMAN GRAY STADIUM

NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour driver Tim Brown did something on Friday night at Bowman Gray Stadium that nobody else has been able to do all year long – beat Burt Myers for the Bud Pole award.
Brown circled the quarter-mile track at a Tour record speed of 68.254 mph to edge Burt Myers for the fastest speed for Saturday night’s Advance Auto Parts 199 at the historic Bowman Gray track.
In fact, Brown now holds both the all-time fastest speed record at Bowman Gray that he set June 21, 2003 (68.865 mph) as well as the Whelen Southern Modified Tour qualifying record thanks to his efforts on Friday night.
“That’s pretty cool to have both the Tour qualifying record and the track record here at Bowman Gray,” Brown said. “That’s a pair of records that mean a lot to me.”
The Top-10 qualifiers were Brown, Burt Myers, Junior Miller, Brian Loftin, L.W. Miller, Frank Fleming, John Smith, Jason Myers, Brian Pack and Al Hill.
Following the draw-redraw, the first eight positions were shuffled which put Fleming on the pole for Saturday night’s race, followed by Loftin, Jason Myers, Smith, Junior Miller, Burt Myers, Brown and L.W. Miller.
Saturday night’s Advance Auto Parts 199 is scheduled to take the green flag Saturday night at 8:40 p.m.
