MOTOTOWNUSA 12-PACKERS VIED IN ATLANTIC CITY

Ted Christopher, of Plainville, Conn., and Jimmy Broderick, of Brookfield, used their MototownUSA 12-Pack Series break to vie for Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City Indoor Racing honors and cash here Saturday Night. Christopher and Broderick were among the 97 three quarter midget and 600cc micro sprint drivers vying for Saturday night's M&R Midget A-Main's 26 places. The fourth annual ACIR Gamblers Classic on the former Atlantic City Convention Center's one-eighth-mile concrete oval is a revival of 1937-81 full and TQ midget racing.
Christopher was entered in the No. 13 VP Fuels Lindblad-Suzuki GSXR TQ. The reigning SK modified and former NASCAR Winston Racing Series Regional Short Track Champion last ran a 1,200cc minisprint on MototownUSA's indoor clay-quarter-mile Jan. 13.
"This is a tight paved track," said Christopher before trying to make the feature through Saturday's B-main. "I'll be going back to Mototown Jan. 23. Jan. 13 there was my first dirt race." Christopher and Broderick had their cars on display during that track's dinnertime fan fest. Broderick, who shares a 750cc micro sprint with NASCAR Busch North series veteran Glenn  Sullivan at MototownUSA, was aboard a Mototown-sponsored No. 5x Hyper-600cc GSXR.
"The last time I was here I was in a TQ," said Broderick. "The track is a little tight in the turns. Mototown's Tommy Defranzo is sponsoring me this weekend." "I've been walking around the track and the Motorsports 2008 show across town," Sid Defranzo. "The response has been good. I'd like to see Jimmy get more racing seat time."
Neither Broderick nor Christopher made the B-main cut. USAC Ford Focus and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour star Bobby Santos III, of Franklin, Mass., finished fourth to winner Mike Tidaback. Tidaback, of Little Falls, N.J., won the only TQ race held in New Haven, Conn.'s Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Rich Tobias, Jr., of Annville, Pa., and Chris Daley, of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., won Saturday's respective Slingshot and Champ Kart features.
While ACIR is a one-weekend-only annual, MototownUSA resumes its third round of its scheduled 12 Pack Series Noon Sunday. 600cc micro sprints, modified lites, four-cylinder street stock and eight cylinder street stock divisions are also on the card.
