KEITH ROCCO GETS UPSET MOTOTOWNUSA STOCK TRIUMPH
MOTOTOWNUSA BUD LIGHT 12 PACK SERIES
March 7, 2008
Charland, Morgan, Guerard, J. Jacobs Repeat Wins

Keith Rocco, of Wallingford, Conn., upset eight cylinder street stock king Jonathan Routhier in MototownUSA Bud Light 12 Pack Racing Series' last Friday night program of the season.
Ryan Charland, of Somers, returned from his Florida Speedweeks racing to halt Sherman Baumann's Modified Light winning streak. Joe Jacobs, of E. Hartford, and Timex Morgan, of Rochester, Mass., won their respective second four-cylinder street stock and 600cc micro sprint feature laurels. Marc Guerard, of Hartford won his second Mototown 750cc micro and 1,200cc mini
sprint main "double."
MototownUSA's 12-Pack Series resumes its regular Sunday program at noon. The Tobias
Slingshots - half-scaled dirt modified stock cars powered by 600cc two-cylinder Briggs & Stratton
Vanguard engines - are to join the regular program March 16.
Keith Rocco, in his second start on Mototown's indoor clay one-quarter-mile oval, came from fourth starting spot to oust early leader Routhier along the backstretch on lap eight of their feature. The DL Painting Service No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro driver went on to lead the other 12 laps over heat winner Routhier, of Canaan.
"This is my first time on dirt," said Rocco in victory lane. "This was a street stock driven once by Tim Sullivan at Oswego, N.Y. The track changes gives the cars more grip." Rocco was referring to the slight banking to the track's first two turns plus a widened backstretch. Mototown workers made the changes to improve side-by-side racing.
Charland came back from racing at East Bay (Fla.) Raceway Park last month to win the Modified
Lite main. The Chandler Fabrication No. 10C Pro-1,100cc. Suzuki GSXR pilot got the drop on polesitter Michael Keeler at the start and never looked back. Current divisional points leader and 10-lap heat winner Baumann, of Moodus, took second from Keeler on lap four but could not keep Charland from ending his four feature victory string.
Jacobs found a way past Brad Voglesong on lap three to win the 15-lap four-cylinder shootout. The 1995 Anthony's Landscaping No. 33 Infiniti G20 pilot stretched his lead on Voglesong's Dodge Neon to where officials called it a race on lap 15. A mechanical problem kept current points leader
Darren Jacobs, of Springfield, Mass., from starting.
Timex Morgan swept the 600cc micro heat and feature, leading the latter contest's distance from the pole. He had won an earlier feature aboard the No. 2 Lafler Chassis - 636cc Kawasaki.
Marc Guerard also went flag-to-flag in the 750cc micro main aboard his Ciammella
Contracting/Racing Against Cancer No. 95 Henchcraft - GSXR. The driver-engine builder repeated his performance in the 1,200cc mini sprint main aboard a similar No. 95 except for a larger GSXR engine.
