After an off season full of questions and uncertainty of what tracks would be racing and what the schedule would look like. Finally the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour will officially kick the season Saturday May 24th at the famed Oswego Speedway.
    The first race of the year is a very prestigious one to say the least as the feature is titled the Richie Evans Memorial. This race is the one race that every asphalt Modified driver looks forward to each year. As this race is run in honor of the greatest asphalt Modified driver of all time in Rome , NY native Richie Evans.
    Last year Pistol Pete Brittain used a win in this event to vault him to his first ever Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour overall championship. Brittain will be back to defend his title and his Evans Memorial victory in the Terry Zacharias prepared car.
    Also expected to enter the event this Saturday night are Tour regulars John Markovic, Daren Scherer, TJ Potrzebowski, Billy Putney, Wilbur Hebing, Erick Rudolph, Mike Leaty, and Rusty Smith just to name a few. Then add in Eric Beers, Matt Hirschman, Jan Leaty, Sege Fidanza and you have the makings of a great racing event.
    Tour veteran Lee Sherwood will be making one of his rare racing appearances in 2008 on this night. Lee has scaled back his racing efforts to concentrate more on his sons racing careers.
    The Oswego Speedway will be having a special test and tune session on Friday May 23rd starting at six in the evening for any teams that wish to obtain extra track time.
    On Saturday May 24th pit gates will open at Noon with grandstands opening at 1:30 in the afternoon and racing is slated to begin at four in the afternoon. The three division show will be topped off by the 100 lap Richie Evans Memorial for the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour.
