GOVERNOR’S CUP 200 TO OPEN LEE RACE SEASON

    The auto racing facility known as N.H.’s Center of Speed will kick off it’s 2008 campaign in fine style as four regional touring divisions will invade the Route 125, Lee, N.H. facility to officially start the new season. On Sunday afternoon, April 20th, The ACT Late Models, True Value Modified Racing Series, Allison Legacy Series, and Legends Series will provide the excitement for the annual Governor’s Cup Event.” The race, for many years a staple on the Lee schedule, returned to the 3/8 mile oval last year with NH’s Governor John Lynch serving as Grand Marshall. This race also marks the return of ACT to the historic N.H.’s Governor’s Cup Event, which it had previously been a part of in the 1980s. Governor Lynch and his wife Susan are expected to be on hand for this year’s event.
    Milton, VT. driver Jean-Paul Cyr is the defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion, a title he has held since 2003, and is a past winner at Lee USA Speedway. Ben Rowe (2006), Jean-Paul Cyr (2005), Chris Michaud (2005), D. J. Kennington (2004), Patrick Laperle (2003) are former ACT winners at the Granite State oval Lee USA regulars will provide for some great competition. Defending track champion JR Baril is entered. Katrina Canney, former champion Ricky Wolf, now competing with the ACT, Bryan Kruczek, Jeffrey Labrecque, Jeremy Harclerode are expected to compete. DJ Shaw won last year’s race holding off Wayne Helliwell Jr.
    The True Value Modified Racing Series will feature 100 laps of ground pounding excitement with defending champion, Kirk Alexander, W. Swanzey, NH., 2006 series champ, Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT., Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA., Mike Douglas, Auburn, NH., Windsor Locks CT., veteran Les Hinckley, Buxton, ME., veteran David Pinkham, expected to enter. Alexander, Hinckley, Jim Boniface, Winchester, NH., Tony Ricci, Westbrook, ME., and Jimmy Dolan, Bethel. CT. are former winners at Lee.
    All teams in competition will be afforded the opportunity to practice at 12 noon on Saturday, April 19th. Qualifying for all divisions will begin at 1 PM Sunday with heat races establishing starting lineups.
    The special event will carry a special price. Grandstand tickets are priced at only $20 and Children from 11-15 years old are $10 and Kids 10 and under are FREE.
