Second-year driver Bobby Grigas III earned his first career Coors Light Pole Award Thursday evening at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway. Grigas' No. 09 Triple-G Scaffold Services Chevrolet circled the .625-mile oval in 18.751 seconds/119.994 mph in qualifying for Thursday night's New England Dodge Dealers 75. Grigas will start the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event sixth after the post-qualifying redraw of the top eight spots.
   Ted Christopher (No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet) was second fastest in qualifying at 18.786/119.770. Point leader Chuck Hossfeld (No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge) was third at 18.809/119.624. Christopher redrew seventh and Hossfeld third.
   Eric Beers and Kevin Goodale will start on the front row after qualifying seventh and eighth, respectively.
