SOUTHERN MODIFIED TOUR EVENT ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT
CARAWAY SPEEDWAY POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event slated for Friday night
at Caraway Speedway was postponed due to inclement weather.
The make-up date will be announced by NASCAR and Caraway officials
at a later date.
The Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150 at the .455-mile Asheboro
short track was postponed when a heavy band of rain, thunder and
lightning hit the area about halfway through qualifying and dropped
almost two feet of rain in the Caraway infield. The decision to postpone
the race was made about 8:30 p.m.
The field will be set by last year’s car owner points, putting
defending champion L.W. Miller on the pole alongside Tim Brown.
The next scheduled NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event is
set for Bowman-Gray Stadium on Aug. 2.
Andy Seuss had topped the speed charts in practice Friday for the NASCAR
Whelen Southern Modified Tour event at Caraway Speedway.
Seuss' fast time of 16.212 seconds/101.036 mph was just one-hundreths
of a second faster than Brian Loftin (16.212/100.974).
Jason Myers was third of the 24 cars to practice, followed by Tim
Brown and Bobby Hutchens. Point leader LW. Miller was sixth. Qualifying
is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150 was
slated to take the green at 8 p.m.
