GETTING TO KNOW: DAVID PINKHAM
by Matt Wiernasz

David Pinkham out of Buxton, Maine drove in the # 22 Thomas Greenly modified on the True Value Modified Racing Series in 2008. The driver has won three track championships at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME. He won a modified championship back in 1993 at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH and ran one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race in 1994. Pinkham would get 2 starts on the True Value Modified Racing back in 2005. He would win his first career race at his home track at Beech Ridge. Pinkham likes the series because it has great drivers and that there is a lot of respect for one another. Pinkham's modified is an old Peter Daniels Modified. Daniels sold his modified to Ben Rowe. Rowe when a couple races with the modified. Rowe ran the 2007 True Value Modified Season Opener at the Waterford Speedbowl. Rowe's modified ended up getting wrecked in that race and did not run the modified. Thomas Greenley bought the modified and Pinkham drove it.
Pinkham started off the season with great runs in 2008. He would finish in the top 3 at Lee and Monadnock. At Waterford, he would get his first win of the season. On July 4th weekend at the Monanock race, Pinkham blew a motor was not able to compete in that race. The following week at Lee USA Speedway, Pinkham would then borrow Gary Casella's modified which is the 25 and renumber it to the 22. Pinkham finished in the fourth spot. He would then pick up another win at Oxford Plains. As the season would go on for Pinkham, the bad luck started. He would go to Beech Ridge in August where that race would be rained out. The series would then travel to Wiscasset. “We broke a rocker up there (Wiscasset). We ended up running a bad set of tires. It was a bad night. We finished. It wasn’t our best performance.” At Waterford, Pinkham's bad luck continued with a 24th place finish. Pinkham went to Monadnock and came home with a 9th place finish.
Pinkham would run until Thompson. David and Ted Christopher would be involved in an incident on the last lap. After Thompson, Pinkham did not run on the True Value Modified Series in 2008. David Pinkham will return to the True Value Modified Racing Series in 2009.
