NORTHERN QUALIFYING RACES ANNOUNCED FOR
THE ANNUAL NORTH-SOUTH SHOOTOUT™
Set to Kick-off Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway

    The Stafford Motor Speedway is set to lead the way for Northern Tour-Type Modified qualifying race events for the 7th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South ShootoutTM. A full schedule of qualifying race events will be held in preparation for the annual event for the three major divisions that will be in competition over the weekend of November 6&7, 2009 including the Tour-Type Modifieds, the SK-Type Modifieds, and the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Late Models.
   “The qualifying races have become a great tradition of the Shootout,” said Dale Wolbrink of C&C Racing Promotions. “These preliminary events take some of the pressure off the teams who earn the guaranteed starting spots and it helps to build excitement leading up to the race each year. We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of the local short tracks.”
This Friday night, August 7, at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs , CT , the winner of the Town Fair Tire 150 for the Whelen Modified Tour will earn their car owner a guaranteed starting spot in the 125-lap main event of the North-South Shootout slated for Concord Speedway in Concord , NC , on November 7, 2009.
   One week later, the Thompson International Speedway in Thompson , CT , will play host to a Shootout qualifier. The winning car owner from the Budweiser 1 50 for the WMT on Thursday, August 13 will also grab a place on the starting grid.
   The True Value Modified series competitors will get their shot at a starting spot on October 4 with the running of the 2nd Annual Ricky Miller Memorial event at Twin State Speedway in Claremont , NH . The final qualifying event for the northern Tour-Type Modifieds competitors will come on October 11, 2009 when Sundance Vacations Speedway (formerly Mountain Speedway) hosts the 10th annual King of the Mountain event.
   An event will also be added to the northern Tour-Type Modified slate for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour.
   C&C Racing Promotions is hard at work south of the Mason-Dixon Line to put together a comprehensive schedule of qualifying races for the Southern Tour-Type Modified contingent as well.
   The SK-Type Modified teams will also get the opportunity to earn starting spots in the 50-lap main event scheduled for the 7th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout.
   The end of summer in New England will be busy with Shootout qualifying action. On Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Thompson and Friday, August 28, 2009 at Stafford , the winners in the respective Sunoco Modified and SK Modified NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will vie for the checkers and the guaranteed starting spot in the SK-Type Modified 50. On September 5, the Waterford Speedbowl will host “Thunder on the Sound” with the winning SK Modified car owner receiving his spot in November’s staring20line-up.
   Wyoming County Speedway will host a qualifier for the teams of the Super Short Track (SST) Series on September 6, 2009. A qualifying race will also be held as part of the festivities of the 10th annual King of the Mountain event at Sundance Vacations Speedway on October 10, 2009. The final guaranteed starting spot will be awarded at Wall Stadium on October 24 in the running of "1st Annual Tommy Comerford Memorial 150". The winner of that event will not only walk away with $10,000 they will also get a spot on the starting grid at the North-South Shootout.
   The North-South Shootout is an annual Modified event that features the cars and the stars of both the Northern and Southern Modified racing community in an all green flag racing shootout to the finish. The race was renamed in 2007 to honor the late John Blewett III; a t wo-time winner of the Shootout.
   The format for the seventh annual event will include time trials for the Tour-Type Modifieds, SK-Type Modifieds, and the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour as well as heat races, and consolation event(s) for all three divisions. The feature events for the Modifieds, ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour and the SK-Type Modifieds will roll of on Saturday, November 7 and promise to be among the most exciting laps of competition in 2009. The ever-popular vintage Modified contingent will remain part of the two-day racing extravaganza. Additional support divisions are expected to be added.
