EASTERN MOTORSPORT PRESS ASSOCIATION
SETS DATES FOR ANNUAL CONVENTION |
The Eastern Motorsport Press Association, made up of professional media that
cover all forms of motorsports on a national, regional and local level, will
present their annual convention at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center
in Trevose, PA from Friday, January 15th through Sunday, January 17th, 2010.
The convention consists of a variety of press conferences featuring
speedways, sanctioning organizations and race teams sharing their plans for
the future with the more than 100 more that are on hand. In addition there
are a variety of social and networking opportunities along with the annual
NASCAR/EMPA Hall of Fame Awards Dinner. The prestigious Al Holbert Memorial/EMPA
Driver of the Year Award is announced along with several other special
awards.
Since the first convention many of the top competitors and personalities in
motorsports have been part of the annual convention that goes back to 1969
when the organization was founded.
"Being a part of the EMPA convention is a wonderful way for
speedways, organizations and race teams to reach the professional media that
cover the sport," said EMPA president Ernie Saxton. "We would love to see
more involvement from the short track racing industry that can certainly use
the increased media exposure. It is an opportunity to create a relationship
with members of the organization."
Saxton is one of the founders of the EMPA and has been the
president for more than 40 years. However the 2010 convention will be his
last as president as he has advised the membership that he will not be
seeking re-election. He does not plan to run for any office.
NASCAR will again be a major part of the convention as will Pocono
Raceway, SPEED Channel and a number of organizations, speedways and
corporations.
As in the past members who have their work appear on the Internet,
radio and TV, and in print publications will be participating in contests to
see who earns the top awards.
