RACE OF
CHAMPIONS DART ASPHALT MODIFIED TOUR SET TO OPEN
THE 2009 RACING SEASON THIS SATURDAY AT THE
OSWEGO SPEEDWAY WITH THE RICHIE EVANS MEMORIAL 75 |
The Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour will open their 2009 racing
season this Saturday May 23rd at the Oswego Speedway. The race is run in
memory of the greatest asphalt Modified driver of all time, Richie Evans,
Parts Plus is sponsoring the Richie Evans Memorial 75.
Last year Matt Hirschman started the RoC season off with a big win
in this event. That win helped vault Matt into winning the RoC championship
last year. Every Modified race at Oswego last year was won by a Hirschman as
Matt won the first three and Matt’s dad, Tony won the last race.
A banner field is expected this Saturday night as Hirschman will be
joined by Jan and Mike Leaty, Rusty Smith, John Markovic, Lee Sherwood,
Daren Scherer, Billy Putney, and a host of other top asphalt Modified
pilots. Also joining the star studded field on the night is Ted Christopher
who will be driving a Zacharias Racing prepared machine.
Pit gates open at Noon Saturday May 23rd with hot laps and
grandstand gates opening at 1:30 in the afternoon and the first heat is
slated to get the green at four in the afternoon.
