at Spencer on June 29, 2001 .
“George shares the ranks of winners at Spencer with some real
all-time greats in the sport of short track racing,” stated promoter John
White . “It will be a real thrill to have him back on the flat half mile
oval.”
Also announcing his return to the speedway for the Race of
Champions qualifier is George Kent’s son, J.R. Kent. J.R was active at
Spencer in the Modifieds until 2004, when he stopped making the trek north
from the southern tier. J.R. has a total of 12 Spencer Speedway Modified
wins and sits twelfth on the all-time Spencer win list. J.R. last won at
Spencer on July 11, 2003 .

leading a stellar field of Tour Type Modified drivers. Leaty sits just one
win ahead of J.R. Kent on the all-time Spencer Modified feature win list.
This coming Friday will feature a regular Four Star program, plus
the 75-lap RoC Tour Type Modified special. This will be the first of two
Race of Champion appearances in 2009. The Tour Type Modifieds will return
again in mid-August to run a 100-lapper. Friday will also feature the first
appearance of the year by the NORA Supermodifieds. Race time is at 7:30 p.m.
