Two of Spencer Speedway ’s all-time winningest drivers are returning this
Friday for the 75-lap Race of Champions event for Tour Type Modifieds.
George Kent, who sits, fourth on the all-time Spencer Speedway Modified
victory list announced he would be returning for this Friday’s race. Kent
has 39 Spencer Modified wins, sitting behind Maynard Troyer, Richie Evans
	and Dutch Hoag.
Spencer’s own Buck Catalano sits fifth on the all-time Modified
feature win list with 37 victories, only two back from Kent . Kent last won
	at Spencer on June 29, 2001 .
“George shares the ranks of winners at Spencer with some real
all-time greats in the sport of short track racing,” stated promoter John
White . “It will be a real thrill to have him back on the flat half mile
	oval.”
Also announcing his return to the speedway for the Race of
Champions qualifier is George Kent’s son, J.R. Kent. J.R was active at
Spencer in the Modifieds until 2004, when he stopped making the trek north
from the southern tier. J.R. has a total of 12 Spencer Speedway Modified
wins and sits twelfth on the all-time Spencer win list. J.R. last won at
	Spencer on July 11, 2003 .
Expected to return is the Spencer 2008 RoC race winner Jan Leaty,
leading a stellar field of Tour Type Modified drivers. Leaty sits just one
win ahead of J.R. Kent on the all-time Spencer Modified feature win list.
This coming Friday will feature a regular Four Star program, plus
the 75-lap RoC Tour Type Modified special. This will be the first of two
Race of Champion appearances in 2009. The Tour Type Modifieds will return
again in mid-August to run a 100-lapper. Friday will also feature the first
appearance of the year by the NORA Supermodifieds. Race time is at 7:30 p.m.
	sharp.

, NY , along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson . Spencer Speedway is the
local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for upstate New York . Points earned each week
