RAIN POSTPONES
THE RoC INVASION OF DUNN TIRE |
Officials of the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour and the Dunn
Tire Raceway Park made a decision early Friday morning June 19th to postpone
the RoC sanctioned Modified show slated for Saturday night June 20th.
The show will be made up with a date of Saturday July 18th being
selected at this time. Officials from Dunn Tire and RoC wanted to get news
of a rain date for this show out as early as possible so everyone could make
their plans in advance.
“ With the forecast and the amount of rain they were calling for
coupled with the nearly three inches of rain the track has received over the
past ten days. It was in everyone’s best interest to postpone the show well
in advance “ stated RoC Administrative Director Andrew Harpell. “ By doing
this the teams who had motel rooms booked could cancel them and save the
expense of staying over and the added cost of fuel. “
Harpell continued on, “ We’ve been down this road before with wet
weather at Dunn Tire and know that the track has problems with weepers. Even
if it was dry on Saturday it would be very difficult to run the show with
water seeping up through the track because of all of the rain they have
received up until this weekend. I’m disappointed because it looked as if an
excellent field of Modifieds were slated to be on hand, I was expecting
close to 40 Modifieds if we raced. Hopefully on July 18th we’ll have that
kind of a car count. “
The next race of the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour
is a Friday night July 10th stop at the Wyoming County International Raceway
in Perry, NY.
