TEAM ADDITIONS
BOLSTER DELANGE RACING |
Headed into the crucial autumn months of the 2009 racing season, two vital
components have been added to the DeLange Racing roster. Veteran racer Davey
Hamilton will drive the Beers Motorsports #9 Modified at Oswego Speedway in
Saturday's Race of Champions Modified Tour 100, part of the 53rd Annual
Budweiser International Classic Weekend. Added to that, skilled crew chief
Kevin Crowley will join the team for several late season races.
Hamilton is best known as a Supermodified driver with extensive
experience on the Oswego five-eighths mile oval. He has also competed on the
Indy Racing League IndyCar Series, with three top-ten finishes in the famed
Indianapolis 500 including a fourth place finish in 1998. Hamilton will be
working with a talented crew put together by Beers for Sunday's event. His
vast experience in open-wheeled racecars will bring a wealth of knowledge to
the team with several important races coming up on the DeLange schedule.
Crowley is a veteran crew chief in the Modified ranks, having
worked with several leading drivers including Donny Lia. Beers has worked
with Crowley on several occasions, so there is a natural chemistry that will
bolster the team's chances in the "big" shows such as the 59th Annual Sunoco
Race of Champions at Oswego in mid-September and the North-South Shootout to
be held at Concord (NC) Speedway in early November.
Team owner Dave DeLange feels these additions will give his team
the boost needed to end the team's 2009 schedule on a crest. "We're moving
into the beginning of the 'second season' and we feel these added extras are
critical to a strong finish. A driver with the talent and experience that
Davey Hamilton brings with him will provide us with the knowledge we need to
move up to the highest level. I've known Kevin Crowley for years and always
admired his efforts. He has worked with Eric in the past with success and I
expect that background will make them a tough team to beat. I'm excited to
race to the checkered flag to end the year."
It's time to go racing forward.
