TRUE VALUE
MODIFIED RACING SERIES
READIES FOR THOMPSON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY |
The True Value Modified Racing Series will make its only appearance of the
2009 season at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Conn. on
Thursday, July 23 for the Town Fair Tire 75. The stars of New England’s
premier modified series were originally schedule to visit the historic 5/8
mile high banked speedway in June but inclement weather forced the event to
be rescheduled.
Among the expected entries is defending series champion Chris
Pasteryak of Lisbon, Conn. Pasteryak, who will be behind the wheel of his
familiar Dawley Collision and Custom/Sunoco Race Fuels Modified, is still
looking for his first victory of the season. “I’m looking forward to racing
at Thompson,” said Pasteryak. “It’s a track with a great history. We’ve
struggled a little this year and there couldn’t be a better place to put it
all together and .get our first victory of the season.”
This will be the fourth event for the True Value Modified Racing
Series at Thompson which has been a part of the schedule since 2006. “It’s a
special race for me being just down the road from my house,” said Pasteryak
“And although the results haven’t been what we wanted in the past - we
always seem to run well at Thompson, we just to need to run well and finish
well.”
Pasteryak recently recorded a big victory at Seekonk Mass., in an open
competition race. He collected the $10,000 winner’s share. “That was a big
win for me,” said Pasteryak. “Hopefully I can add another at Thompson.”
Qualifying heats for the True Value Modified Racing Series are
scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The 75 lap green flag feature event is scheduled for
approximately 7:45 pm. The track’s regular NASCAR Whelen All American
divisions will fill out the undercard for the Thursday night evening of
racing.
The Town Fair Tire 75 is the ninth race of the 15 race 2009
schedule. Jon McKennedy Chelmsford, Mass. leads currently leads the
standings by 23 over Rob Goodenough of Swanzey, N.H.
