BEECH RIDGE
PREPARES FOR
MODIFIED THUNDER |
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will feature the True Value Modified Racing
Series ,Saturday night, Aug 8, with a solid field of modified race cars and
drivers from throughout the Northeast expected. This will be the fifth
appearance for New England’s premier modified racing series at the historic
facility, considered to be one of the top short track operations in the
country.
A tight five-way battle for the points lead and a homecoming for
former winner David Pinkham will make for an interesting night of
competition. Jon McKennedy, a winner this year at Claremont, NH; Seekonk,
MA; and Oxford Plains, ME; takes a 26 point lead over Rob Goodenough,
Swanzey, NH., into Beech Ridge, with Steven Masse, Bellingham, MA; Eddie
Dachenhausen, Danbury, CT; and Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon, PA; making up the
top five in the standings. Pennink is only 57 points back from the point
leader. The top five drivers are gearing up for the trip up Rte 95.
Pinkham, from nearby Buxton, ME; and a winner of this race in 2005,
will drive for Auburn ME; car owner Tom Greeley. A three-time winner with
the TVMRS, Pinkham has run a limited schedule this season.
Additionally, Westbrook, ME, driver Tony Ricci, a two-time winner,
and newcomer Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME, are also expected to compete. Ricci
launched his career at “The Ridge.”
Defending champion Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT; is slated to compete. His
uncle, Carl Pasteryak, Lisbon, is also making the trip. 45 year veteran Jack
Bateman, Canaan, NH; former rookie of the year and longtime racer, Peter
Jarvis, Ascutney, VT; Mike Douglas. Jr. Auburn, NH; and Eddy Spiers, Beacon
Falls, CT; are expected entries.
2006 champion Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, and Les Hinckley, Windsor
Lock, CT; are also entered. Hinckley is second on the all-time win list to
three-time champion Kirk Alexander.
In addition to Pinkham, former winners of the annual race include,
Dale Evonsion in 2006, and Alexander in 2007. Last years race was postponed
because of inclement weather.
Qualifying races to determine the starting field for the 100 lap
green flag race will get underway at 6:00 PM. For additional information log
