SPEEDWAY ADDS MODIFIED RACING SERIES
EVENT TO ITS 2010 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS |
Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that they have added a Modified Racing
Series event to its 2010 Event Schedule. The Inaugural Shark Cycle Modified
Racing Series 100 will take place Friday, September 10th at the famed
Connecticut half-mile and will be joined on the card by Stafford’s five
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing divisions.
“My father set out to make Stafford Motor Speedway the premier
destination for modified racing, and it is in that tradition that we are
adding this event to our 2010 calendar,” said Stafford COO/GM Mark Arute.
“We are still committed 100% to NASCAR and the Whelen Modified Tour. Adding
this event helps us to offer modified racing fans a wider variety of open
wheeled modified racing here at Stafford while continuing the tradition that
my father started of Stafford being the premier modified racing facility in
the Northeast. We have received a lot of positive input from fans and
competitors alike regarding the Modified Racing Series coming to Stafford
over the past couple of seasons, and we decided that the time was right for
us to add another modified racing event to our schedule. A lot of drivers
who race either full time or part time with the Modified Racing Series
drivers have competed here at Stafford in either SK Modified® or Whelen
Modified Tour competition, so we feel that the Modified Racing Series will
put on a great modified show and add to our modified tradition here at
Stafford.”
“This is huge for our series,” said Modified Racing Series
President Jack Bateman. “We have heard repeatedly from our competitors that
it would be nice to be able to have a race at Stafford and that they wanted
to get a race at Stafford. With Stafford now on our 2010 schedule, we think
the car count is going to be really strong and this will definitely be an
exciting race!”
When the Modified Racing Series makes its Stafford debut next
September, fans can expect to see 3-time Modified Racing Series Champion
Kirk Alexander as well as MRS Champions Dwight Jarvis, Chris Pasteryak, and
Jon McKennedy. Modified fans can also expect to see an eclectic mix of
series regulars as well as “outsiders” including Jack Bateman, Ted
Christopher, Doug Coby, Jacob Dore, Rob Goodenough, Les Hinckley, Mike
Holdridge, Stephen Masse, Todd Owen, Rowan Pennink, Mike Stefanik.
