TCS RACING TO HOST GOLF
TOURNAMENT |
Glenn Tyler and the TCS Racing team have announced that they will be hosting
a golf tournament at Great Rock Golf & Country Club in Wading River on
Monday, May 4th. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Suffolk
County Police Athletic League (PAL). The tournament is slated to have a 1
p.m. shotgun start and will feature a scramble format. Registration is
currently open, and golfers can sign up at a cost of $175 per person by
calling (631) 924-1703 or emailing
TCSRacing@gmail.com. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, lunch and
dinner, and prizes. Hole sponsorships are available, as are sponsorships for
the lunch and dinner portions of the event.
Tyler, a two-time Riverhead Raceway Late Model champion who resides
in Hampton Bays, is entering his third full season on the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour. He drives the #8 Sypher Construction entry. Tyler's team is
unique in that it is completely Long Island based - Tyler and all of his
crew members reside on Long Island, the team's shop is located on Long
Island, and all of Tyler's sponsors are based on Long Island.
Mark Sypher owns the TCS Racing operations, while Mike Corwin
serves as the team's vice president. The co-crew chiefs on the team are Greg
Tyler and Wally Voegel. Other team members include Kevin Dickerson, Wayne
Lindsay, John Christofferson, Bob Gallagher, Jesse VanDuzer, and Billy
Wysocki.
Tyler’s 2009 sponsors include Sypher Construction, an East End site
and development company; P & G Auto Parts, located in Southampton; Financial
Federal Credit, based out of Oakdale; Twin Forks Overhead Doors, located in
Riverhead; and B & B Furniture. Tyler’s powerplant comes from Big Sal’s Race
Engines, with motors that the team runs at several tracks being provided by
Bill Weller, who owned Tyler’s Late Model motors also.
Tyler recorded three top ten finishes in 2008, and closed out the
season 13th in points. In 2009, the driver is hoping to post some top five
finishes and finish in the top ten in series points. He is also seeking his
first career WMT win.
