THOMPSON READY FOR SECOND TRY
AT WORLD SERIES THIS WEEKEND

After being beaten by Mother Nature last weekend, the Thompson Int’l Speedway is once again ready for the running of the 36th annual XTRA MART World Series of Speedway Racing. This racing spectacle will feature fifteen divisions of racing over the three-day period of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the ISMA Super Modifieds top the bill of exciting, non-stop racing action that has become the hallmark of the World Series. It is an event that race fans talk about and look forward to all year long.
“Last weekend the cold, rain and snow made for an impossible situation. But, this coming weekend is looking good. But, in the event of weather related problems, we can make adjustments. Over the years, we have become pretty good at being flexible and being able to rearrange the schedule short notice. The introduction of the track’s web page has given us the advantage of keeping race teams and fans informed on an up-to-the-minute schedule. We urge all involved to keep a close eye on our web site this weekend in the event that any kind of schedule change is needed. That way everyone will know exactly what is taking place and when it will be,” said track owner and promoter, Don Hoenig.
The XTA MART World Series of Speedway Racing is the largest racing event of its kind anywhere and it attracts hundreds of competitors and thousands of race fans to Connecticut’s “Quiet Corner” for a weekend of high speed racing, the drama of championships being won and a tremendous variety of race cars and race trucks. Add to that the fact that it is southern New England’s biggest and best party weekend and you’ve got an event like no other.
The Raceway Restaurant and Lounge is the social center of the weekend with breakfast served both Saturday and Sunday mornings and a huge race party Saturday night that will include great food, along with music by a band and a DJ.
Fans can keep up to date on the entire weekend’s list of events by visiting the Thompson Speedway’s web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com There they will find the complete schedule of events along with stories that make this race event filled with excitement. Thompson’s huge grandstand will open at 4:30 P.M. on Friday, October 23rd and at 9 A.M. on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th & 25th.
