JARVIS WINS MONADNOCK
BOND AUTO PARTS SPRING DASH 100

With a large opening night crowd on hand, Ascutney, VT., racing veteran Dwight Jarvis scored his first win of the season Saturday night capturing the Bond Auto Parts Spring Dash 100 for modified race cars at Monadnock Speedway.
Jarvis’ victory was his fifth career win with the Modified Racing Series, sponsored by BobValentiAutoMall.Com, and his third score at the Winchester, NH., oval. Jarvis is ranked fourth on the all-time win list for the MRS.
Starting 17th in a 24 car field, Jarvis methodically worked his way through the lineup, taking the top spot on lap 76. It was a hard fought victory for the popular driver who chased early race leader, Jim Boniface, Winchester, NH., for several laps before making the pass. Boniface led the race for 68 circuits.
2009 Koszela Speed Rookie of the Year, Jacob Dore, of Sanford, ME., made a late race charge to finish second. He fought off Boniface and Rowan Pennink,Huntington Valley, PA., often side by side, for several laps, to nail down the runner-up spot. Boniface settled for third, Rowan Pennink, finished fourth, with Sean Bodreau., Claremont, NH., finishing fifth.
Pennink, who started 24th in the field, was involved in a lap 36 skirmish that forced him to start last again. He too made a late race charge that led to his fourth place finish.
Kenny Barry, Preston, CT., from his pole starting position led the first four laps of the 100 lap green flag event. Boniface took control on lap six and fronted the field until a hard charging Les Hinckley, Windors Locks, CT., took over on lap 35.Hinckley was forced to the sidelines with an electrical problem the following lap. Boniface took command at that point and led the race until lap 75. Jarvis made a patented “dive bomb” type move on Boniface to go on and take the victory.
32 race teams entered the event, the third of 19 races for the popular touring series. 12 of the original 24 starters finished the race on the lead lap.
Qualifying races were won by Barry, Boniface, and Mike Holdridge, Madison, CT. Steven Masse, Bellingham, MA., and Eddy Spiers, Beacon Falls, CT., captured the last chance to qualify consolation races.
The next scheduled race for MRS is the resumption of the East versus West Showdown, Friday night May 21, Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Malta NY. Rain and sleet forced that race to be postponed last month.
