2010 RACING WITH ROWAN PENNINK
AT NEW SMYRNA - 2/60 |
Rowan Pennink came to New Smyrna Speedway not with his own race car but with
the #19 modified car of George Bierce. This week we will be following Rowan
Pennink and the #19 team at New Smyrna World Series. “I think that we have a
pretty good race car here,” said Pennink as the crew prepared the car for
time trials. “It was pretty good in practice yesterday and I think that we
got it a little bit better today. Hopefully we can go out there and time
trial up front.”
On Saturday night Pennink started the Tour Mod race fourth after
the top six time trial positions were inverted after qualifying. The
twenty-five lap Tour Mod race went from green to checkers without caution.
The field of cars appeared to be pretty much even on the track so there was
very little position changing after the initial jumps when the green flag
flew..
Is driving the #19 car just a deal for New
Smyrna or is this the beginning of a new racing relationship?
“It is always nice to getting to know a new car owner and new
people. We are just going to get through New Smyrna first. Maybe in the
future there will be another race with George in another division. (ROC?) It
would be good to do. We are just going to get through New Smyrna though.”
What is Rowan Pennink’s Race Plans for 2010?
“I am going to run the northern tour with my car. Then run the
Modified Racing Series in the Gary Casella #25 car again, and also at
Thompson on Thursday nights with Al and Cathy Monzi #31 Thompson Modified.”
