WALL MODIFIEDS TO HEADLINE “THUNDER AT THE SHORE” SEASON
OPENER AT WALL STADIUM APRIL 3

The popular Wall Modifieds, led by newly crowned driving champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, will move to center stage on Saturday night, April 3, as Wall Stadium opens its 60th season of professional auto racing with its “Thunder at the Shore” racing program. Originally the Tour Type Modified were set to go head to head with the Wall Modifieds in this event, but when conflicting schedules made it impossible for the Tour Type Modifieds to participate, the Wall Modifieds stepped up for top billing in the season opener.

Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. on April 3, with qualifying starting at 5:15 p.m. and main events taking the green flag at 6:30 p.m.

Although Okerson, also a multi-time Pro Stock champion at the stadium, is currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition in his quest for opening night glory. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Tim Arre of Toms River, Freehold’s Steven Reed, Matawan’s Anthony Sesely and Dave Cranmer of Shrewsbury are just a few of the area’s standout Modified drivers expected to go for the win and the season-long driving title.

While the April 3 “Thunder at the Shore” opening night event will feature a 40-lap main event for the Wall Modifieds, also on that agenda will be the Sportsman racers, Street Stocks and Legend Cars in 25-lappers and the Factory Stocks in a 20-lap main event. All five feature races will award points towards the season-long driving championships.

The current schedule for the April 3 season opener will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 3:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will start at 5:15 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 6:30 p.m. sharp.

Time is running short for Wall Stadium stock car racers to fine tune their cars for the 2010 season opener. With that April 3 “Thunder at the Shore” stock car lid-lifter at Wall Stadium on the horizon, teams will get one more chance to prepare for the first event of the 2010 campaign this Saturday (March 27) with a paid practice session from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, grandstand admission will be free of charge.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway office is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday during events. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while more information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com..
