TWO RACE WEEKEND UP NEXT FOR
RACE OF CHAMPIONS DART ASPHALT MODIFIED TOUR

This upcoming weekend the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour will be making their yearly weekend trip to beautiful western New York State with shows on Friday and Saturday night. The two races in two days will have a big impact on the RoC Tour points as a good or poor weekend by a driver will affect him the rest of the RoC Tour season.

The Friday June 18th show will take place at the Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY and with an all new asphalt racing surface in place. Many drivers are looking forward to racing on the new surface and see if they can stop they Leaty stranglehold of RoC races at Spencer.

The Saturday June 19th show will take place at the Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster, NY. This historic racing facility always has exciting RoC races with tire management playing a key in the outcome.

Increased car counts and increased competition so far in the early season of the RoC Tour have made the racing even more exciting than it was in the past. Local favorite Chuck Hossfeld has won the first two RoC races this year at Shangri – La II and Oswego. Despite the two wins Hossfeld sits sixth in the point standings heading into this weekend as he chose not to run the show at Albany – Saratoga in April that gave 50 show up points.

Leading the RoC points currently is Daren Scherer of Binghamton, NY. He has a slim four point lead over Mike Leaty who is having success with the DART steel head motor once again this year on the RoC Tour. Wily veteran Pete Brittain sits in third only ten markers out of the lead, defending RoC and two time consecutive champion Matt Hirschman is tied with Brittain in third. Hummelstown, Pa. youngster Kyle Ebersole currently sits fifth in points only 14 points out of first.

For the Friday June 18th show at Spencer the pit gates will open at 4:30 in the afternoon with grandstand gates opening one hour later. Hot laps begin at six with the first heat being green flagged at 7:30 p. m. sharp. The RoC Mods will run a full show of heats, B Main, and a 75 lap feature that pays $2,800 to win.

The following evening June 19th the pit gates open at three in the afternoon at Dunn Tire. Hot laps begin at 4:30 with grandstand gates opening at five and the first heat gets the green at 6:30 p. m. sharp. For the second night in a row the RoC Mods will run a full show of heats, B Main, and a 75 lap $2,800 to win feature.
