HOSSFELD LOOKS FOR FIVE IN A ROW
AT THE BULLRING |

 On
Friday night July 9th the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified
Tour will be making one of their favorite stops on the tour as they
visit the beautiful Wyoming County International Speedway in Perry,
NY.
The third mile asphalt oval nicknamed “ The Bullring “ has seen many
memorable races and close finishes when the RoC Modifieds make their
yearly visit. For the first time last year the show was run under
the lights on a Friday night and this made the exciting racing even
better.
This year the story on the RoC Tour has been the domination of Chuck
Hossfeld who has won the last four races in a row. Hossfeld from
Ransomville, NY has done this feat with a Dart steel headed motor
that was built during the off season by Ron Hutter. This type of
motor which is less expensive to build and to maintain has won
before this year with Mike Leaty and this year Hossfeld is dominate
with the Dart steel headed motor.
After his fourth win in a row at Dunn Tire a few weeks ago RoC
officials completely tore down the motor to make sure it was legal,
and it was. Up to this point many competitors thought there was
something funny going on with this motor and the complete tear down
settled all speculation.
Heading into Wyoming County Hossfeld now leads the point standings
by a dozen over three time consecutive champion Matt Hirschman.
Daren Scherer is a dozen points behind Hirschman in third with Rusty
Smith 25 points back in fourth and Mike Leaty only two behind Smith
in fifth.
Pit gates will open at three in the afternoon on July 9th with hot
laps beginning at six and the first heat taking the green at 7:30 in
the evening. The RoC Modifieds will run a full show of heats, B
Main, and a 75 lap $2,800 to win A Main.
