RACE OF CHAMPIONS DART ASPHALT MODIFIED TOUR
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES STARTS AT CHEMUNG |
|
The
regular season is now over with on the Race of Champions Dart
Asphalt Modified Tour and the focus of everyone is on the
Championship Series. This is where the stakes are higher for all
racers as extra distance events will test the teams strength along
with a bigger point breakdown making each race critical to the run
for the championship.
This Sunday July 18th the first Championship Series event will take
place at the Chemung Speedrome as the RoC Modifieds will compete in
a 150 lap feature event. This race is the first of five Championship
Series events that will determine who will be the 2010 Race of
Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour Champion.
The story of the regular season was the winning streak and dominance
of Chuck Hossfeld. Hossfeld who had won four in a row going into
this weekend has been doing all of his winning with a Ron Hutter
built Dart Machinery steel headed motor. This motor which costs less
to assemble and maintain has been making great strides the past few
years with notably Mike Leaty and Jeff Hamman winning with these
motors.
The uniqueness of the Chemung track always makes for some
entertaining racing taking place and this should be no different
this Sunday afternoon. As the RoC Modifieds will compete in a full
show of heats, B Main, and a 150 lap A Main which will feature pit
stops.
Pit gates will open at ten in the morning on Sunday July 18th with
grandstand gates opening along with hot laps starting at Noon, the
first heat is slated to get the green at 2:15 p. m.
