LATICRETE PORT CITY 100
MODIFIED RACE AT LEE FRIDAY

Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH., will host the Valenti Modified Racing Series, Friday night, July 8, with the running of the “Laticrete Port City 100.” The stars and cars of the New England based touring series for modified racecars will be competing for additional prize money, thanks to the support of sponsor, LATICRETE, for the third consecutive year.

LATICRETE is a worldwide leader in the manufacturing and distribution of installation systems for tile and stone products of all kinds.

We are proud to once again be a part of this great event," stated Maria Oliveira, Corporate Marketing Manager for LATICRETE. Our guests have raved about  the past two events at Lee, and we expect this event to be more of the same.

Drivers from throughout the Northeast are expected including several with connections to the Lee race track, where they once competed weekly.

Leading the list of entries is recent winner and defending two-time series champion Jon McKennedy, of E.Chelmsford, MA., who returns to his old stomping grounds where he has been successful.

By series rule, the winner of the previous race is required to start the next race in the 18th position. McKennedy is looking for a positive result.

"Lee is a real good track for me. I've won a bunch of races there,” he said. Starting 18th could be a little difficult. The track is really abrasive on tires, so starting that far back is going to be challenging to go forward and save your tires, but it can be done. A few years ago I won from dead last in the Oktoberfest race."

Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA., Hamsptead, NH’s Andy Seuss, and Nashua, NH., veteran Norm Wrenn, all former Lee regulars are expected to compete.

Additionally, Steven Masse, Bellingham. MA., Kirk Alexander.Swanzey,NH., Todd Annarummo, Swansea, Ma., Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME., and Kenny Barry, of Preston, CT., are expected. Barry will debut a brand new racecar at Lee .

A hotly contested points battle for the series championship is ongoing. Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon Valley, PA., holds an eight point lead over Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT., and a 12-point gap over former series champion, Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT. All three drivers are entered.

Friday’s race is also the last guaranteed starter event for the July 16 “Ricky’s Race For Kids” at Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH. Double-points are being awarded for the “Chase To The Race” qualifying series finale.

Qualifying races begin at 7:15 PM.
