RUDOLPH NABS INAUGURAL MODIFIED POLE AT DELAWARE
Second Career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Pole

Erick Rudolph earned his second NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 21 Means 21 Pole Award Presented by Coors Light Saturday at Delaware Speedway in qualifying for the inaugural Delaware 150.

Rudolph, from Ransomville, N.Y., posted a fast lap of 17.585 seconds (102.360 mph) around the half mile oval in advance of Sunday’s feature event. The 19-year old driver of the No. 98 Mohawk Northeast/Original Pizza Logs Chevrolet earned his first Whelen Modified Tour pole in 2010 at Monadnock Speedway.

Season points leader Ron Silk was the first to take time and his fast lap of 17.626 (102.112) remained good enough for Sunday’s outside pole. Bobby Santos (17.641/102.035), Eric Beers (17.686/101.775) and Doug Coby (17.707/101.655) rounded out the top five fastest qualifiers.

Canadian drivers D.J. Kennington and Cole Powell qualified sixth and 15th, respectively.

Earlier in the day Coby paced the first practice session with a fast lap of 17.840 (100.897) while Silk was fastest in Happy Hour at 17.450 (103.152).

The Delaware 150, the Whelen Modified Tour’s first event outside of the United States, is set to take the green flag Sunday at 2 p.m..
