SZEGEDY REPEATS AS LIME ROCK POLE WINNER
Earns Pole For NASCAR Whelen Modified 66/99 Presented By Town Fair Tire

Todd Szegedy is two-for-two in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying at Lime Rock Park.

On Friday, the Ridgefield, Conn., driver won the Coors Light Pole Award at the 1.5-mile, eight-turn road course for a second straight year.

Szegedy turned a lap of 53.902 seconds (100.182 mph) in his No. 2 Wisk Detergent/A&J Romano Construction Ford, as the field was set for Saturday's NASCAR Whelen Modified 66/99 presented by Town Fair Tire. This marks his ninth career pole and his second this season.

When the tour made its inaugural visit to LRP last year, Szegedy won the pole winner and led all but the last four laps, before settling for second.

Szegedy, who had experience at the track in other racing series prior to his NASCAR career, had topped the charts in both practice sessions earlier in the day on Friday.

Ron Silk was second quickest in qualifying with a lap of 54.186 seconds (99.657 mph). Erick Rudolph was third followed by Justin Bonsignore and Mike Stefanik. Bobby Santos, Richie Pallai Jr., Rowan Pennink, Ted Christopher and James Civali rounded out the top 10.

This event is the lone road course event for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Friday's qualifying was done NASCAR Road Racing style, with cars going on track in groups based on their earlier lap times in practice.

A final practice session is set for 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, with the green flag for the NASCAR Whelen Modified 66/99 presented by Town Fair Tire set for 1:30 p.m.
