LW MILLER RACE
REPORT: CARAWAY
Miller brings home
the Speedco/Lucas Oil Chevy in 4th place |
|
After
starting 4th in the Spring Classic 150 at Caraway Speedway, LW Miller took
the lead at lap 91 and looked to have the strongest car in the field, but a
tangle with Brian Loftin battling for first place sent both cars spinning.
On lap 120, Todd Szegedy spun behind the leaders in Turn 2. Miller and
Loftin, who were first and second respectively, got together in Turn 3 as
the caution came out. Miller was able to make it to pit road and continue,
but Loftin, had to be towed off the track. Miller restarted in the 12th
position and battled back to a solid 4th place finish in the 21 car field.
After the first race of the season, Miller sits tied for 3rd in the
championship point standings.
No. 36 Speedco/Lucas Oil Key Quotes
Start – 4th / Finish – 4th / Laps Led – 29 / Points – 165 / Driver Point
Standings – Tied 3rd
L.W. Miller on his car..."We had an awesome car and I was happy with how we
started because I think we were one of the few teams that didn't test prior
to the race."
On the incident with Brian Loftin...."Brian and I were racing hard and I
think Brian got into a little speedy dry on the track as it was slick after
Ted Christopher's car put down some fluid after his accident. When Brian got
loose he came across our car and we got together and both of us slid to the
inside wall. I was able to continue, but it was heartbreaking to have a car
that good that could have won the race and miss out on a chance to get the
win."
On rebounding for a top five finish....."Obviously we are disappointed
because we felt we had a car that could win the race, but we'll take this
finish and work on our car a little bit more to be ready for the next race
here in two weeks."
