Through the development of technology this column comes to you campfire
side! I am off with the family and Bobby, our Valenti Modified Racing Series
Chaplain with his wife Vinetta shared their thoughts with us this week.
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It was a North and South Friday night, no not the North South shoot
out, but with Vinetta heading to Lee and myself heading to Stafford.
As many fans have witnessed the excitement of racing this season,
some surprises, some come from behind finishes always something new. The
glory of strapping into a car, going over 100mph, winning a trophy, money
and maybe a big sponsor possibility for next season keeps the racers and
fans coming to the track. This lasts only for the ride home. The same for
every fan in the stands they get excited when their favorite driver did
well. But we all go back home to realities of life; heart aches in the
family, illnesses, job issues, relationship issues and the list goes on.
What I am getting at is we put our trust in our racing teams, our
favorite driver to do well. We hear it all the time, I hope we have the
right set up tonight. I pray my driver does well tonight.
Where is our set up with Jesus? Is our trust in Jesus in good or
bad times, or are we relying on our own instincts to get ourselves out of
issues?
Psalm 18:2
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
If you haven’t put your trust in
Jesus or feel you have just too many bad things he wont listen; He will
listen, He is waiting and He knows your heartache.
In my notebook I carry with me to every track to take notes I have
this Psalm written:
Psalm 116: 1-2
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice, he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
If you haven’t started reading
scripture there is no better time to start than after you read this
Newsletter. There are plenty of apps available for phones to set you up to
read. If you don’t know where to start or what app is good for you to carry
on your phone ask us we would be happy to take the time to help. If you
don’t have a Bible, don’t have the resources, that too we can help. Pick a
family night to read together, Youtube has some great movies to watch,
another is godtube. We also have RWJM drivers prayers and decals for your
car.
THOUGHTS
FROM THE ROAD
MODIFIED RACING AT
STAFFORD - There were 30 cars registered coming off of Monadnock's
endless race. Tonight was the Valenti Modified Racing Series 80 lap event,
but after watching the Monadnock race who knew what was going to take place
at Stafford. With all the torn up cars during the season this is one
division that has kept great car counts no matter where the VMRS travels to.
It looked like #25 of Pennink was going to tow the field for the
whole race and he came close. There were a couple drivers that tried high
and low couldn’t do it, but another driver back in the field did it!
As the race was contested the #34 of Hirschman tried, #5 Chris
Pasteryak tried,#2 Jon McKennedy tried with no success but around lap 70 the
#9 Victory Lane Bar & Grill sponsored car from Millis, Ma drove around and
into Victory Lane at Stafford Speedway. I joked with Tommy that he was
smiling so big we couldn’t see his car in the photos.
What looked like a night for the #00 of Teddy Christopher ended
when he was placed to the tail for aggressive driving, but he battled back
to a 4th place finish.
An announcement made to the fans tonight was the #93 of George
Sherman was purchased from a pawn shop. How many young racing fans that have
dreams of racing Modifieds will have their eye on pawn shops? It will take a
lot more than a few video games to trade in!
The Top Five drivers of the race this evening was as follows: #09
Barrett, #25 Pennink, #2 McKennedy, #00 Christopher and #34 Hirschman.
AND A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH - This is what Vinetta had to
write about Lee USA Speedway.
The night started out with the car club Daily Driven with 19 cars
in attendance. They participate in annual shows and community events for
Charities.
The next group to go onto the track was the STAR group (Senior Tour
Auto Racers). They had in attendance 11 sportsman and 9 Modifieds. The heat
races had a few crashes resulting in not being able to compete in the
feature race.
The Late Model Feature tonight was a special 50 lap race with a few
new outside drivers in attendance but the weekly guys held them back from
taking home any bragging rights.
One driver who pulled double duty tonight was Sparky Maciver
driving a Late Model and his Small Block Modified. First place changed hands
several times with #92 Aither being chased down by #89 Roy pancaking the
wall and sending him back 5 spots. Tonight's finish in the Late Model was as
follows 1st # 92 Aither 2nd #88 Baril 3rd #93 R. Green.
Thanks for the reports, I'll catch you up on all the other action
when I return from the great outdoors. Looking forward to the UNOH Showdown
at Thompson next week, hope to see you there.
