VALENTI MODIFIED RACING SERIES
TO TRY AGAIN AT MONADNOCK |
In
an unusual turn of events, the Valenti Modified Racing Series will try to
compete for the first time since July 29th, when the traveling series visits
Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH., this Saturday, August 25.
“It’s never happened,” said series announcer John Spence, reacting to three
consecutive events postponed, forcing races rescheduled and a cancellation.
“Been here since the series started. We’ve had rainouts but not to this
extreme. The last race we ran was a makeup date (July 29) from the July 26th
show at Thompson. We have not turned a lap since. This is the stretch drive.
With Waterford rescheduled to September 8, and Seekonk (Aug 18) cancelled,
we have six races left and some good points battles happening. We need good
weather on our side, for the competitors, fans, and track owners,” said
Spence.
Hopefully things will turn around this Saturday, August 25, when the VMRS
rolls into Monadnock for a 100-lap event, the final appearance there this
season.
At stake is the 22-point lead in the season standings by Jon McKennedy, of
E. Chelmsford, MA., over Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, PA. McKennedy
has won twice at Monadnock, while Pennink, a five-time series winner, is
looking for his first there.
Former Monadnock winners, Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT., and Rob
Goodenough, of Swanzey, NH., are expected.
Defending Series Champion, Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., will also
compete
Post time is 6:00 PM. |
