MOTOR SPEEDWAY CARQUEST
CHAMPIONS FOR CHARITIES DRIVER SPOTLIGHT:
RYAN PREECE |
|
Stafford
Motor Speedway has again lined up an impressive
field of current and former open wheel champions for
its CARQUEST Champions For Charities Event as part
of CARQUEST Super Saturday on June 30th. During the
coming weeks, SMS will offer a profile on each of
its championship winning drivers and the charity
they will be racing for and this week’s CARQUEST
Champions For Charities spotlights falls on
defending Stafford SK Modified® champion Ryan
Preece, who will be racing to support the
Connecticut chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“First of all, it’s nice to finally be able to be
called a champion,” said Preece. “I watched the race
last year and it looked like all of the guys had a
lot of fun. The main thing is to raise money for
Make-A-Wish, so I’m looking forward to raising money
and helping to make a difference in being able to
grant a wish for a child with a life-threatening
medical illness.”
As Preece strives to raise money for the CT Chapter
of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he will not be alone
in his fundraising efforts. Hoosier Tire’s Missy
Pearl, who is an independent consultant with
PartyLite Gifts, will aid Preece’s efforts by
donating 25% of her profits from selling PartyLite
gifts to Preece’s efforts for Make-A-Wish. Fans can
order PartyLite gifts online at
http://www.partylite.biz/sites/melissapearl/productcatalog
and entering Ryan Preece’s name after clicking on
Look Up Your Host, or by calling Missy Pearl at
860-608-6043.
“I’m thrilled to be helping Ryan raise money for
Make-A-Wish,” said Pearl.
“People can order either online through my PartyLite
website or by calling me directly. 25% of my profits
will go towards Ryan’s total for Make-A-Wish and I
hope to sell a lot of candles to help Ryan be one of
the top fundraisers and get him a preferred starting
spot in the CARQUEST Champions For Charities feature
race.”.
After winning the Stafford SK Modified® championship
last season, Preece will have a full slate of racing
ahead of him this season as he will race weekly at
Thompson and Stafford as well as taking over the
wheel of the #16 car on the Whelen Modified Tour
that was formerly piloted by Mike Stefanik.
“The way the schedule is there are no conflicts, so
we’ll be at Stafford for all the races to try to win
another championship,” said Preece. “It was nice to
win the championship last year and we’ll try to win
it again, but with the competition level at
Stafford, that is asking a lot. You really have to
be on you’re A-game at Stafford, but we have the
car, the team, and thanks to sponsors like American
Lamp Recycling, Sullivan and Sons, J.G. Poulin
Drywall, CD Chassis, Racing Electronics, Hitchcock
Pool Water, and Pettit Racing Engines, we have more
than enough to go out and get the job done.”
