BOBBY SANTOS
RETURNS TO NHMS
WITH TINIO MOTORSPORTS TEAM |
In
their first three races together, driver Bobby
Santos and owner Sully Tinio have been very
competitive, running in the top five for a good part
of each event, and nearly winning the May NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour event at the Stafford (Ct.)
Motor Speedway.
With this success in mind, the Tinio Motorsports
Modified Team has decided to compete in the NWMT
event on July 14 at the New Hampshire Motor
Speedway, one of the tours biggest events.
"It's a track that Sully has gone to (watch) and he
said that it was his ultimate goal with this
Modified to be able to race at Loudon," Santos
revealed. "I don't think he expected it to happen
this year, but he and everyone on the team is really
excited to be able to race up there."
Santos, who is a native of Franklin, Mass., hasn't
enjoyed as much success at NHMS, in limited starts,
as he has at dozens of other tracks that he has
raced on to become a USAC Pavement Sprint car and
NASCAR Modified Tour Champion, so he is very excited
to have another opportunity to show his talents on
the 'Magic Mile'.
"After I figured out that I wasn't going to be able
to run full time this year (in a Modified), I think
the tour races that I really wanted to run were
Loudon and Bristol (TN). I'm just wicked pumped for
Loudon. It's one of the most fun races on the tour.
I'm excited with the way that we have run every time
we have sat in that car this year."
The new team is led by crew chief Steve Lemay and
car chief Lawney Tinio. The rest of the crew
includes Bobby Joyal, Danny Gamache, Ronnie
Headquest, Jeff Perault, Mark Brochu, Tim Phillips,
Kelly Lambert and Kevin Hammann. The car is a Troyer
Chassis powered by a Billy The Kid engine.
At age 25, Santos has raced at 75 different race
tracks, driving in 23 different styles of race cars.
He has raced on dirt, asphalt, indoor tracks and
road courses. Santos has won in nearly every type of
race car he has driven, including his most recent
win this past Friday in a USAC Midget car at the
Iowa Speedway.
Tinio Motorsports would like to thank primary
sponsors www.Imperialcars.com, a dealership in
Mendon with a campus style setup, and three
different dealerships in one, and the Tinio
Corporation, which performs heavy equipment hauling,
material hauling and construction for helping make
this venture possible.
Associate sponsors on the #44 car include:
www.Oliviasmarket.com, Dan Kelley Victory Lane
Stables, and Worldband World Class Technical
Consultants at: www.worldband.com.
"My crew chief Steve Lemay is a really smart
person," Santos noted. "He has done a great job to
this point and I don't see why he won't do a good
job there as well. It's been a lot of fun working
with Steve and the Tinio Motorsports Team, so I am
very much looking forward to this event." |
