New Jersey Driver
Garners Rookie Of The Year Title |
Danny
Bohn has capped off his highly successful first season in
the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour by being named the
2012 Sunoco Rookie of the Year.
The prestigious title follows a season in which the
24-year-old from Freehold, N.J., captured his first career
tour win en route to a runner-up finish in the championship
standings. In addition, he registered six top five and eight
top 10 finishes in 2012.
Bohn piloted his No. 65 Rifenburg Construction/Rustoleum
Chevrolet to victory at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C.,
on Oct. 6, in the 10th of 11 races on this year’s schedule.
He won the Sunoco Rookie of the Race Award in that event, as
well as four other races during the season.
Bohn started racing Bandolero and Go-Karts at Wall (N.J.)
Stadium Speedway in 2003. He won a track title racing in the
Dirt Modified division at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley,
N.C., in 2009.
Bohn, as well as the second and third place finishers in the
final rookie standings for the NASCAR Whelen Southern
Modified Tour, will be honored as part of the festivities
surrounding the NASCAR Night of Champions Awards on Dec. 8
at the Charlotte Convention Center in the NASCAR Hall of
Fame. |
