THOMPSON
SPEEDWAY NEXT FOR
VALENTI MODIFIED SERIES THURSDAY |
The
Valenti Modified Racing Series 10th Anniversary Tour
wraps up July with a stop at Thompson Speedway,
Thompson, CT, this Thursday, July 25.
The series, coming off a very competitive event at
Oxford, ME, this past weekend, also features a hotly
contested points battle for the 2013 championship.
Millis, MA, driver Tommy Barrett saw his 18- point
lead cut to two by Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon
Valley, PA, the Oxford, winner.
Both drivers are expected entries for the Thompson
show, the second of three races there this year. The
first event was lost to rain in May.
Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, will head to Thompson
now ranked third in the point’s race. Savary
recently stated he is not concerned about the point
standings but is more focused on winning races. The
second-generation driver has a lot of experience at
the Thompson oval.
Louie Mechalides of Tyngsboro, MA, and Norman Wrenn,
of Nashua, NH, will enter the Thursday night
special.
A host of others expected include, two-time series
champion Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT, Dan
Meservey Jr, of Brewster, Ma, Anthony Nocella, of
Woburn, MA, Max Zachem, of Preston, CT, and reigning
series champion, Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford,
MA.
Ted Christopher, of Plainville, CT, last year’s
winner of the July event, confirmed his intent to
enter the race on Monday.
Thompson Speedway has announced, anyone holding
tickets for the rained-out May 15th race is urged to
use them this week. The May 15th tickets are the
official rain checks for this event. However, if
those tickets are not used on July 25, they will be
accepted for any Thompson race event of equal or
lesser value.
Qualifying heat races are scheduled for 6:00 PM with
an autograph session scheduled for 7:30 PM on the
speedway midway.
The headline event, the ‘Thompson 75’ is slated for
an approximate 8:30 PM start. |
