Friday July 19, 2013 things were sizzling hot at Stafford Motor Speedway as
temperatures soared close to 100 degrees. As the heat hovered over the
track, the temperature was not the only historical record noted in Stafford,
CT. Ted Christopher also made history as he crossed the finish line first in
the familiar #13 Broadband Access SK modified to capture his 100thStafford
SK Modified race win.
Christopher started his SK winning string at Stafford Motor Speedway on May
23, 1986. Twenty seven years ago the much younger Christopher stood in
victory lane for the first time. This was the first of 121 wins that he
chalked up in various divisions at what he now calls his home track—Stafford
Motor Speedway.
“It
is a huge milestone for me doing it at this track. Stafford has been good to
me all these years,” Christopher said. When you look at it, it is a huge
number and I am glad that I could accomplish it and finally get it over. I
hope that I get a few more in before the year ends and maybe try to contend
for the championship this year.It is a very big accomplishment and I am very
proud to do it here at Stafford.”
When Christopher was asked what he remembered about his first SK win at
Stafford he noted that his memory of all of his racing competition he does
not specifically remember. He only has filed away some of the highlights. “I
do remember my first run ever in an SK at Thompson because that was the
first time I ever won. But I honestly do not remember the first win here.”
Christopher as a racer and has always set himself high goals for whenever he
is on the track. “When it comes down to racing I always try to do the best
that I can. The motor blew up two weeks ago and then last week we were taken
out in the first lap. I will just keep going. Probably the goal for me now
is to try to get to 10 titles. There is always next week, right?” |
