As we move toward Christmas and the celebration that begins, remember it was
for our benefit that Christ came. He entered the world for the purpose of
sacrificing His life for us.
John
3:16-17; For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the world through him.
1 John4:9-10; This is how God showed his love
among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live
through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and
sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
A NOTE FROM OUR VMRS CHAPLAINS -
Vinetta and I joined the VMRS for their Annual Awards Banquet. It was
great once again to be back with the VMRS family after the 2014 season
coming to a close. This past season started with heavy hearts and I carried
with me many memories of Jim Boniface throughout the season. As we led up to
the banquet “Blessings” was on my heart. I can certainly speak for Vinetta,
we have seen many blessings throughout the years with the VMRS and
throughout the racing community, and also in our own personal lives. I know
many within the racing community have many to share. Let me ask a question
to those reading this column. Do you recognize a blessing from God or do you
think it’s just “LUCK”? Here are a few times this season that I think God
was present. Take a look back, reflect on your own personal life and see if
it was Luck or Blessing.
They have an incentive program with Sunoco Fuel at Lee USA Speedway. If
you buy fuel at the track your name goes into a drawing the following week
and a chance to win 5, 3, or 2 gallons of fuel. Vinetta and I handle this
program for LEE/Sunoco Fuel. One night a driver’s name was called and as he
smiled he stated. “I just had enough fuel for my own truck tonight and left
my wallet back home” I had no money to buy fuel tonight.
So you call this Luck or God providing a blessing to this person? That
evening he won his first heat since racing!
I was working on a friend’s camper a few summers ago and needed to get
some parts. So I asked my friend’s wife where a parts store would be. She
told me directions and away I drove. Well I had so much on my mind at the
moment I drove going in the wrong direction. Well I thought I was. I
realized I could get there from this direction. As I was driving I see a
gentleman along the side his truck one arm on his truck other arm up to his
chest. As I approached he looked towards me with concern. I pulled over and
he said, “Thank you for stopping, no one would stop to help. I think I’m
having a heart attack.”
So you call this Luck or was God providing a blessing to help this
gentleman? I was told by the local paramedics few days later that he was
doing well.
One night at Lee USA a young Boy approached Vinetta and asked if she
would go sit and speak with his mom. As they were walking the boy explained
that his mom has cancer and just wanted Vinetta to pray with her, to help
comfort his mom. As they were both walking towards his mom in the stands his
Mom started to cry. Vinetta then spoke with his mom and she said I didn’t
think my son believed. I have been trying to get him back to church with me.
We have not seen either of the two since this happened, but this was
something for the Mom to witness to comfort her.
So you call this Luck or was God providing a blessing to the Mom to
witness that her son does believe?
As you gather around the table Christmas Eve or go to Midnight service;
ask yourself are you lucky to have food and family there with you? Are you
lucky to have the gifts to put under the tree? Are you lucky to be racing or
have a job? Are you not pleased with what you have or are you trying to get
lucky with a scratch ticket to have more? I know many of us have said this
in the past. I was lucky I found something in my garage or basement, it was
just right here! Well the Blessing are just right here, stop searching for
some luck and let God provide the blessing you need! As we all know Luck is
temporary, and Blessings are for eternity. What would you rather have?
I remember the very first meeting with Rev. Don, sitting in a Church that
once was an old railroad station. I remember this scripture like it was
yesterday as he read it to me.
Jeremiah 29:11; For I
know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to prosper you and give you
hope.
Vinetta and I wish all of you a Very Blessed off-season and
Christmas with family and friends. We look forward in seeing everyone 2015
season. God Bless, Bobby and Vinetta Somers.

THANK YOU -
Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings to all our chaplains, friends,
and faithful supporters.
As the banquets and the trade shows for the season wind down, I want to
say on behalf of the Board of Directors at Racing with Jesus Ministries,
Thank You.
Chaplains, thank you for your unending dedication to ministering to the
needs of the racing community. Thank you for sharing the Love of Jesus
Christ in your chapel services, driver's meeting closing prayer, and prayer
with the many drivers who may never voice the appreciation for prayer, but
know deep down, there is power and comfort in prayer.
Thank you for the countless hours and endless miles of travel to various
tracks to do the work the Lord placed on your heart. Thank you for the
prayer support for each other; as we all went different directions, and
covered as many races as possible throughout this year.
Supporters and friends, Thank you for your continued prayer and financial
support to make all this possible and encouraging each other to keep on
keeping on. Thank you to Rev. Don and Lynda for your untiring dedication to
the "office particulars" on a weekly basis. Thank you to the faithful
supporters for your prayers, financial help and material donations. You made
it possible to get through another year of ministry.
With great anticipation of what the Lord has planned for all of us in the
2015 racing season, thank you all once again as we go forward in Jesus'
