RON SILK TO
DRIVE FOR ROB FULLER MOTORSPORTS
IN NORTH-SOUTH SHOOTOUT
Silk will pilot LFR Chassis
House Car featuring 15-40 Connection |
Ron
Silk will get behind the wheel of the No. 15 LFR
Chassis as he joins Rob Fuller Motorsports as driver
of the 15-40 Connection modified for the North-South
Shootout at Caraway Speedway (N.C.).
“This really happened overnight,” said team owner
Rob Fuller. “With the driver swaps going on and the
rain delay at Thompson it was the perfect storm
situation going into silly season if you will. My
goal is to get as many drivers as I can in the LFR
chassis so they can have a good idea of what they
will be racing if they don't have one. Ronnie is the
perfect pick for this race because he is being
mentioned as a possible driver for a few teams and
this is a good way to show him what these cars can
do.”
The partnership is for this race only. Todd Szegedy
is slated to continue to drive the No. 15 RFM entry
in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour next season.
Silk recently finished fourth overall in the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour standings with five Top-5 and
11 Top-10 finishes during the 2014 race season.
“I’m really excited to try out the LFR Chassis,”
Silk said. “I’ve been interested in it ever since
Rob started the company. I raced against it at New
Hampshire and it seeing how well it does and how
Burt Myers has been running well with it down south,
I’m really interested in giving it a try.”
Silk will test at Caraway Speedway today with RFM
and other LFR Chassis teams to prepare for the Nov.
1 race. “Today we’re going to get used the car and
acclimated,” Silk said. “I think it will be fast.
We’re going out there to win and I think we have a
real chance.”
