Life is ever changing, in a moment things can change forever. These past few
weeks we have seen the racing community change in a moment. These are not
the things we want to see but they are a fact of life. In a moment things
change, life as we know it heads in a different direction. Greetings in the
name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I have to admit some of the lives that changed over the last few weeks
were not as personal as one that struck close to home. That doesn’t make
them any less valuable. There are family and friends dealing with those
changes and trying to make sense of a difficult situation. My prayer is that
there are people standing by them, holding them up, walking alongside, and
helping them get through dark times.
God spoke through the prophet Isaiah and let us know that no matter what,
He is with us. We belong to Him and He will not let us falter.
Isaiah 43:1-3a; But now,
O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
2 When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
3 For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
There are some important points to remember in
this passage; one is, this was a promise that God made to the nation of
Israel, and it also was meant for us, those who have accepted the sacrifice
Christ made on the cross and received Him as our Lord and Savior. We have
become children of God.
Remember these promises from Isaiah;
1. I am the only Savior.
2. I ransomed you.
3. You are mine.
4. I am with you.
5. I will bring you through life’s challenges.
I encourage you to lean on the Lord and let His promise become a reality
in your life. Let your life dwell in the house of the Lord and walk with Him
through life.
THOUGHTS FROM THE ROAD
CLOSE TO HOME - The road this
week wasn’t a long one but it was a difficult one. We were able to walk
alongside the Bennett family as they faced some of the most trying days any
family can face. Chace, their three-year-old son was diagnosed with
leukemia.
I had the pleasure of marrying Michael and Lindsay. One of the
commitments I made to them was I would always be here to walk alongside them
through their life together. Just as God is there for us, we make every
effort to be alongside you through your life.
We all know there are good days and bad. As they say some days are
diamonds, some are stones. We love to be alongside and celebrate the
diamonds, those are uplifting and encouraging. Some days are stones, they
hit you right between the eyes and knock you out. Last Monday was one of
those days for the Bennett’s.
Five times this year young Chace stood holding his father’s leg in
Victory Lane at Stafford Motor Speedway. Wednesday, Michael held his son in
his arms as he faced the race of his life. He released his son into the
hands of God and the skill of the doctors and nurses. The heart wrenching
time waiting for a word, some encouragement, something.
The news was positive, the race was on; Chace has a battle to fight.
Michael, Lindsay, Tenley, the Bennett and Palko families and the entire
racing community are running with him. I am so encouraged to see the genuine
outpouring of support and encouragement coming from everyone. We have united
to #raceforchace!
On Saturday morning Chace awoke to find some additional items in his bed.
He found a checkered flag and a trophy from the race the night before at
Stafford. Dad won number six in dominating fashion. The smile and six little
fingers told you that he was proud of his dad. He wasn’t there to clench his
leg, but he certainly was there motivating his dad through the race.
Michael didn’t want to leave his son’s side, but what would Chace think
if his dad gave up running for the championship to be with him. A difficult
decision. I believe Michael demonstrated to his son the battle is worth
fighting, never give up.
Chace faces a long journey that will have its good days and bad. His
smile tells you he is up for the fight. His dad, mom and sister are by his
side. His support team is ready to do what must be done to win this #raceforchace.
You can help support the Bennett family; there is a #raceforchace go fund
me page. You can donate at the track and receive a #raceforchace decal. You
can lift them up in prayer. Walk alongside this family and lift them up!
