.
As we reflect on the race season and look back on our adventures, what are
we thankful for? I thought over the next few weeks as we lead up to
thanksgiving we might look at some things we receive but don’t always
notice. I am thankful for the efforts of others. Greetings in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Let’s face it we can’t be everywhere and do everything, no matter how
great we think we are. At some point we have to rely on the efforts of
others to accomplish the goals we set out for ourselves. I believe that is
the way God designed it. We are not independent, we are interdependent.
Racing needs everyone to come together in order to succeed. You have
Sanctioning Bodies, Race tracks, Officials, Teams, Safety Workers and Fans.
Without one of those elements there would be no Raceday.
Even if we break it down further we see that each team is made up of
individual components that need to work in unison for the team to be
successful. Each member having their own responsibilities. When performed
right they lead to team success.
So it is with God, he created us each unique, but dependent on one
another to accomplish His Plan. I am thankful for those who walk alongside
me to accomplish what God intends for this ministry. It is a blessing to
walk along the road with friends by your side.
1Corinthians 12:12-13; The human body has many
parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.
So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles,
some are slaves, and some are free.
But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share
the same Spirit.
Race teams, Churches, Sports Teams, Schools,
any group of people you can think of is made up of unique individuals. When
they commit to come together and focus on a common cause the results are
more significant than what one person can do alone.
I am thankful for the team of servants God has surrounded me with. Not
only my family, but the RWJM family, the Church family. As I look around I
am surrounded by people who have responded to the call of God and are a part
of everything I do.
I encourage you to take the time and thank those around you. Those who
walk alongside to help you achieve your dreams. The parts of the team that
no one sees but are required to get the job done. Let those around you know
how thankful you are to have them along for the journey.
THOUGHTS FROM THE ROAD
REV. RAY REFLECTS ON THE CHANGES AT NLW SPEEDBOWL - With the running of
the Bemers Super Bowl of Auto Racing October 24th. & 25th. at New
London-Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT; racing has pretty much come to
a close for the 2015 racing season in the Northeast. One of the goals for
Racing with Jesus Ministries, is to Honor and Serve God in the racing
Community in whatever capacity He sends us.
When we were asked to come and serve the New London-Waterford
Speedbowl on a weekly basis as their track Chaplains, we had no idea of the
depth He would lead us to serve there. His Word makes it very clear that He
will not lead us anywhere He has not prepared the ground to receive His
Gospel. His promise is to uphold us in His service and make the way
possible.
We were able to make many new friends and share with them the Gospel of
God's unending Love, Mercy and Grace. From the track owner, track
management, track officials, to the car owners, drivers, and crew members we
were welcomed with open arms and open ears. The relationships which were
built with each one this year were awesome. We were able to help them
nurture their relationship with the Lord God.
It will be exciting to see His hand moving once again next season. The
joy and privilege to be asked to close not only the NLWS track driver's
meetings in prayer, but also some of the touring divisions as well, was a
huge blessing.
To have Victory Chapel services, in the pits, so to speak, was what this
ministry was founded for. Fans appreciated the pre-race trackside
invocation- sometimes with an "Amen" coming from the stands! Drivers will
not put any sticker on their car unless they want it there. So, to be asked
if we had RWJM stickers to apply to their car was a confirmation of God's
presence. It was a display of their Faith in Jesus, and also in Racing with
Jesus Ministries. I often reminded the drivers that the sticker wouldn't
help them win races, but surely would remind them of who helped them in a
race.
Gratefully, we had a very successful and fairly injury free season at
NLWS. Yes, there were some issues, but without a doubt, with God's invited
presence there, they were often quickly resolved.
The total 2015 racing season will soon be in the books, and Lord willing,
we will be asked to return again not only to NLWS, but to other tracks
across America. We need help from local churches who feel the leading of the
Holy Spirit to get involved with folks who want to be in church on a Sunday,
but find their passion and job of racing has them at a track for the
weekend. We will take church to them and walk alongside them as best we can.
Our goal is to Honor and Serve Him; can we count on you?
