VMRS RACE AT DEVILS BOWL
CANCELLED

A wet forecast has forced officials to cancel tonight’s race program at Devils Bowl Speedway, West Haven, Vermont.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series was scheduled to compete in the inaugural Newport Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 100 at the famed speedway.

In a prepared statement released by the speedway “There are a lot race teams and fans that were planning to travel from several hours away to come to Devil’s Bowl for the first time, and we want to give them the best experience possible,” Devil’s Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said. “It would be a tall order to get the race track dry, give the race teams ample practice time, and get the racing underway much before 9:00 p.m., which would not be fair to anyone.”

Bruno also indicated he and VMRS president Jack Bateman are working toward a make-up date which they hope will be announced as soon as possible.

The VMRS will look toward next Saturday’s event scheduled at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Scarborough, ME.

Bateman announced recently the modified series will compete in twin 50-lap features at Beech Ridge.
