VICTOR JOHNSON MEMORIAL 100
NEXT FOR VMRS

The Valenti Modified Racing Series gets back at it Saturday night, August 22, as the Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH, plays host to the ‘Victor Johnson Memorial 100’ honoring the late modified driver who lost his life in a 2011 house fire. Saturday’s race also carries additional purse money.

Woody Pitkat, of Stafford Springs, CT, still has the point lead entering the series final 2015 appearance at Monadnock. 28 points separate Pitkat from (Todd) Patnode and Szegedy. Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT, is 29 points from the top, with Nashua, NH, veteran Norm Wrenn fifth.

Additionally, former Monadnock winners Kirk Alexander, Jon McKennedy, Rowan Pennink, and Les Hinckley III, are expected entries.

Local favorite Russ Hersey, last years top rookie Mike Willis Jr. and
Anthony Nocella, the winner at Beech Ridge earlier this month, is expected.

This year’s event has a different twist. An additional $6100 will be added to the race payoff thanks to the efforts of Lisa Patnode, wife of driver Todd Patnode, who organized a lap sponsorship program several weeks ago.

Patnode reached out to race fans, sponsors, race teams, drivers, media representatives, and many others and will continue to accept contributions right up to race time. Race product certificates from various race related businesses’ will also be part of the special bonus program.

“This is a very special race to me,” explained Patnode. “Victor Johnson was a very special person. I wanted more for this race this year. I enjoy a challenge. About 2 months ago I began getting lap sponsors. Knowing I needed to fill 100 spots was a cool challenge but I also wanted to incorporate something else. I came up with the idea of the ‘Johnson Laps’ Barry Johnson graciously offered to sponsor it. So on every 5th lap because Victor drove car number 5, I have chosen a position in the field that will also receive $25.”

Qualifying races begin at 6:00 PM .
