POINTS BATTLE TIGHT AS VALENTI MODIFIED SERIES HEADS TO OXFORD
VMRS First / Speed51 Powered By JEGS To Televise Race Live

The Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to Maine for the second time this month, to the famed Oxford Plains Speedway, Saturday, August 29, as part of the 42nd annual Oxford 250 weekend.

The race, the ‘Oxford Plains 100’ is race # 12 on the series 15-race schedule.

Speed51 powered by JEGS, will televise the pay-per-view event, the first time a VMRS race has been televised live.

Saturday’s race is the 7th appearance by the New England based modified series. Kirk Alexander won the inaugural event in 2007.

Saturday’s race has an interesting twist. Point leader Woody Pitkats’ lead is down to 24 points after last weeks fourth place finish at Monadnock. Pitkat has another race obligation on Saturday so car-owner Peter Kulessa reached out to three-time VMRS champion Jon McKennedy, of East Chelmsford, Massachusetts, to fill in for Pitkat. McKennedy, who won at Oxford in 2009, will wheel the # 42 car. Kulessa leads the car-owners point standings.

Todd Patnode, of Swanzey, NH, coming off a solid second at Monadnock, is the guy that chopped four points of Pitkat’s lead last week. Patnode will be at Oxford Plains looking for a strong run Saturday.

Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, CT, is currently third with Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT, only three points behind, and Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH, ranked fifth heading to Oxford.

2014 Star Speedway modified champion, 15 year-old Matt Swanson, of Acton, MA, will make his series debut at Oxford Plains. Others making the trip include 2011 winner Joe Doucette, of Framingham, MA, Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, MA, who will compete on behalf of car owner Kevin Stuart, Northport, NY’s David Schneider, veteran Dan Meservey, Jr, of Brewster, MA, Kevin Ianarelli, of Groton, MA, and Todd Annarummo, of Swansea, MA, and Russ Hersey, of Swanzey, NH.

The State of Maine will be represented. Series newcomer veteran Bruce Haley, of Minot, Tony Ricci, of Westbrook, and Josh Cantara,of Alfred, are expected entries.

In addition to Alexander, McKennedy, and Doucette, David Pinkham (2008), and Andy Seuss, (2010) have won at Oxford on 250 weekend.

Qualifying races begin at 6:00 pm.
