SATURDAY, JUNE 11TH, ‘LAKE ERIE 75’ RACE OF CHAMPIONS
ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES BACK AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY

The Race of Champions asphalt Modified Series will once again take to the ultra-modern Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The Saturday event will highlight the Race of Champions Modifieds in a 75-lap feature and will be the first time the Series has raced at the oval since 2005.

“Lake Erie Speedway is an outstanding facility and when we were contacted by Operations Manager, A.J. Moore, we jumped at the opportunity to build an event that fans and participants will enjoy,” stated Joe Skotnicki from the Race of Champions. “It is our goal to contribute to the success of events at great facilities like Lake Erie. It’s a tremendous stage for the Series to compete on in 2016 and we look forward to building a long standing tradition with events for years to come.”

Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pennsylvania captured the 2015 Race of Champions asphalt Modified Series championship and will lead a star-studded cast to Lake Erie on June 11th.

“We’re looking forward to going back to Lake Erie,” stated Hirschman. “It is a first class facility, I’ve been to victory lane there with my Dad (Tony won a NASCAR Modified Tour race) and I ran the race in 2005. It’s going to be an exciting night for our Series and it’s a very competitive track. I think it will be one of the must-see races of the season. We are already gearing up for 2016 and this is definitely circled on our calendar.”

Lake Erie Speedway is a 3/8-mile banked asphalt oval, which opened in 2002. The last time the Series visited the popular facility was in 2005 when East Aurora, New York’s, Billy Putney captured the victory.

“We are excited to play host to the Race of Champions asphalt Modified Series,” stated A.J. Moore, Operations Manager at Lake Erie Speedway. “The excitement and competition that the Series brings to the table is incredible and a perfect fit for what we are looking to give our fans in 2016. It will be a great event.”

The event will also include US Legend Cars, NYPA TQ Midgets and the Can-Am Midgets.

Tickets for the “Lake Erie 75” for the Race of Champions asphalt Modified Series will be available November 2nd, 2015. Contact Lake Erie Speedway at 814-725-3303 for tickets, camping and venue information.

The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The 66th annual Race of Champions weekend will take place in 2016 and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
