BURT MYERS MAKES
IT TWO-IN-A-ROW FOR
THE "KOMA UNWIND WIND" MODIFIED SERIES |
Burt
Myers dodged the spins, crashes and retaliation and
cruised to a victory in the “Autism Smiles, LLC.org
125” on Saturday night at Ace Speedway in race No. 2
of the season for the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness
Series.
Myers took the lead on lap one with an outside move
on fast qualifier Zach Brewer and except for a
20-lap stint at the front by his brother, Jason
Myers, breezed in claiming the victory by .775
seconds on the younger Myers brother.
Chris Pasteryak made the trip from Connecticut and
took down the third spot. Dan Speeney had his best
KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series finish in fourth
followed by Gary Putnam. Spencer Davis recovered
from a penalty for the rough housing with Brewer to
finish sixth followed by Tom Buzze, Buddy Ellis, Don
Johnson and Brewer.
While it may have appeared easy for Myers, it was
anything but easy for many others including Jeremy
Mayfield, who had mechanical woes along with Bob
Summers and Mike Norman. Jimmy Wallace tangled with
another car and ended his night against the Turn 3
concrete. Brewer and Josh Nichols skirmished a
couple of times and while Brewer survived those, he
didn't fare so well after contact under caution from
Spencer Davis ended Brewer's night.
The Ace Modifieds ran twin 20-lappers with an
inverted start in race two. Brian King continued his
dominance in the first race ahead of Randy Butner,
Gary Young, Jr. Richard Thomas and Burt Myers.
King spun the invert wheel to a 4, then got caught
up in a first-lap deal with Myers that put him to
the end of the line for the restart. King made it
back to Young's back bumper by lap 20 but wasn't
able to make the pass settling for second behind
Young. Thomas, Butner and John Lain rounded out the
top five.
Johnny Johnson claimed the victory in the Modified
portion of the East Coast Flathead Ford feature and
Wayne Lawson won the Sportsman half.
