NASCAR UNVEILS
WHELEN MODIFIED ANNIVERSARY LOGO
New Official Mark Will Commemorate 30th Anniversary In 2015 |
NASCAR formally unveiled today a commemorative 30th
anniversary season logo for the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour. The new logo will become the official
mark of the tour for the 2015 season.
The
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 30th anniversary logo
will be used in all facets related to the tour in
2015. The specially-designed logo consists of the
tour’s unique base design with the famed modified
car with the addition of a footer block that reads
"30th Anniversary."
NASCAR began sanctioning races in 1948 with the
modified division. While the open-wheeled race cars
have been around longer than any other division in
NASCAR, the present-day NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
was formed as a regional touring series in 1985.
Connecticut-based Whelen Engineering has been the
tour’s entitlement sponsor since 2005.
Launched today in conjunction with the unveiling of
the anniversary logo is a 30-day countdown to the
season-opening event with a daily milestone event
from the first 30 seasons of the Whelen Modified
Tour. The historical markers will be shared on
NASCAR’s official regional touring series Twitter
account, @NASCARHomeTrack, utilizing the hashtag
#NWMT30. Fans are encouraged to share their own
memories throughout the countdown by utilizing the
hashtag.
The 30th anniversary season will commence at
Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park –
which is celebrating its 75th season of competition
in 2015 – with the Icebreaker 150 on April 12.
