NASCAR WHELEN
MODIFIED TOUR RETURNS TO STAFFORD
AUGUST 7th FOR CALL BEFORE YOU DIG 150 |
The
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return to Stafford
Speedway on August 7th for the Call Before You Dig
150, the third of four NWMT races to be held at
Stafford this season. 2-time NWMT Champion Doug Coby
is currently tied atop the points standings with
2013 NWMT Champion Ryan Preece with NAPA Spring
Sizzler winner Woody Pitkat only 2 points behind.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make stops at
New Hampshire and Monadnock before coming back to
Stafford on Aug. 7. With the Call Before You Dig 150
just 3 weeks away, here is a look at who has
excelled in the first 2 NWMT races held at Stafford
this season.
Pitkat leads the way at Stafford in 2015 with a win
in the NAPA Spring Sizzler back in April followed up
by a second place finish in June in the TSI
Harley-Davidson 125. Pitkat has also had the upper
hand on the field in qualifying with 2 top-5 starts
behind the wheel of the #88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet
Chevrolet. Pitkat led 49 laps in the Sizzler but did
not lead a lap in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125,
despite finishing second.
Doug Coby finished sixth in the NAPA Spring Sizzler
with the #2 Dunleavy’s Repair Chevrolet and was
relegated to a 13th place finish in the TSI
Harley-Davidson 125 due to a late race penalty for
rough driving. Coby qualified a disappointing 11th
for the Sizzler, but he won the pole position for
the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 and he led 2 laps in
that race.
Ryan Preece is second to only Pitkat in average
finish at Stafford with a third place effort in the
NAPA Spring Sizzler and he won the TSI
Harley-Davidson 125 in June behind the wheel of the
#6 T.S. Haulers, Inc. Chevrolet. Preece will head
into the Call Before You Dig 150 leading all drivers
in laps led at Stafford this year, having spent 188
of 325 laps at the front. Preece also has the best
average starting position at Stafford with pole
position for the NAPA Spring Sizzler and a second
place start in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125.
In addition to Pitkat, Coby, and Preece, there are 6
other drivers who have an average finish inside the
top-10 in the first two races of the season at
Stafford. Todd Szegedy, driver of the #4 Mystic
Missile Dodge has an average finish of 3.0; Rowan
Pennink, driver of the #93 Van Wickle NAPA Auto
Supply Chevrolet has an average. finish of 7.0;
